Re: “Semi-Homemade Cooking” (a little rant- sorry!

)
Personally, I have no problem with the semi-homemade concept.
My problem with her show may have something to do with what I said in my previous post - how these FN shows have been going on for years, so the hosts are bound to run out of good ideas.
Many times her fast and “super-simple” semi-homemade recipes are actually
more difficult and time-consuming and require
more expensive and impractical “specialty” ingredients then the actual homemade recipe would. Like she’s going out of her way and adding unnecessary steps just so a recipe will technically fit into her semi-homemade formula.
Why not spend
less money on fresh ingredients…? Buy fresh onions and chop 'em yourself! Don’t buy expenive bags of grated, processed cheese…Get a hunk of good chedder or american and a grater from the 99-cent store! Why even bother with
canned oranges? Sliced mushrooms in a jar?? And some of the recipes are just wacky. A recent show featured chocolate sauce on steak

…I also remember ( I wish I could forget!) some neon-green wasabi mashed potatoes.
But, yeah, I do still occasionally watch her show. SL herself both fascinates and disturbs me…I think there’s something wrong with her. The odd way she talks and mis-pronounces her words, and the frozen smile-stare. I don’t mean to be uncharitable…I saw her “Chefography” and can see how her life story can be admired. But her TV persona is just weird, IMO.
