Favorite Images of Mary

Since Our Lady has been referred to as being both “Queen of Apostles” and “Queen of Patriarchs” I think both explanations are good.

Since there was more than 12 apostles I feel the 12 tribes is stronger but I agree it can be seen both ways, particularly if you consider the original 12 disciples which in and of themselves were representative of the 12 tribes.

That is a nice one. I don’t remember seeing it before. It reminds me of something I saw at Mass one morning- a little girl of about two, held by her mother and she picks up her mother’s mantilla and covers her head with it too. It was sweet.

One of my favorite:

The look on Mary’s face underscores the very human nature of Jesus and the not only the divine sacrifice but the human loss - the painting brings Mary and Jesus to our level of understanding and makes me quite uncomfortable in my seat.

I like the picture of the Madonna in Sorrow, and a less commonly known one of Jesus as an adult holding Mary.
