How about an historical non-fiction documentation to clarify this subject? Read “The Two Babylons” for objective enlightenment.
:rotfl:

There is a tv station that is SDA and one of their preachers spends ALL of his time railing against the Catholic Church. He makes it sound as if he studied in Rome and basically all he did was visit the Vatican once, I think. (He may have said hello to a priest)

For those who can only rail against Catholicism, I feel sorry for them that their faith tradition is so weak that they can be only negative AND untruthful 😦 and not find anything positive to preach about their own faith.

The weirdest myth is the idea that there is a secret corridor between the convent and the Rectory where the priests and nuns get together to murder and bury their children.

If they had any idea how hard these folks work, they would realize that they haven’t got time for the sort of activity that would lead to having children, never mind time to build a secret tunnel. (Plus the fact that the nearest convent to our Rectory is about five miles away, across a river - but who said any of it has to make any sense?)

“You all just do what the Pope tells you!”

 Yes, because no Catholic has ever supported abortion, woman’s ordination, or sam-sex “marriage”
Yes so true!!! No Catholic would dare go against the pope!!

I guess there actually is something to the old saying; *“The truth hurts” *after all! 😉

Peace, Mark

Same here, there’s an SDA radio station that spends the whole day bashing the RCC, and sometimes Islam. Which is a massive shame as some of my best friends who belong to that church and they aren’t that way (outwardly towards me at least). The SDA have committed some embarrassing gaffes down the years, so
😛

Anyways, best lie has to be that we worship idols by ‘praying to statues’.

How is the Catholic Church the whore? As I recall Rome sits on the seven hills, not Vatican City, where the Pope leads the Catholic Church.

I would have to say, by and large, it is that we worship saints or statues. How one can worship someone or something that they acknowledge is not God, is a creation of God, and is subordinate to God by virtue of being a creation (as must be all created things), is beyond me entirely.

We acknowledge fully that something finite cannot be equal to He Who is infinite. Yet still they persist in their claims against us! It is baffling.

Before or after “The Da Vinci Code”? 😃
:rotfl: “…for objective enlightenment…” He said “objective”!!! :rotfl: Don’t forget Boettner’s “Roman Catholicism” as a primer…because he was “objective” too…according to the many Catholic “sources” he used to prove Catholic doctrines…oh…wait… :rotfl:

I know, it’s a bit of a weird topic, but one that is interesting. When I say “favorite” I am really meaning the most truly absurd and ridiculous attempts to attack the church, I just find it interesting . . . 😃 I’ll start:
  1. That all priests are pedophiles. Most priests are in-fact not pedophiles, if I remember correctly they did a little study on this and in Europe Catholic priests are accountable to about 0.1% of sexual abuse amongst the clergy(meaning all religions) and in America it is even less with 0.03%(I believe).
  2. That the Jesuits planned the assassination attempt of Pope John Paul II, in an attempt to gain Muslim converts to supply the main force in the Vatican Army. Can’t really say much on it other than it sounds completely absurd.
  3. That the Vatican Bank killed Pope John Paul I. . . 🤷
LOL Interesting thread! The ones I know of are:

The Catholic Church is evil and is the antichrist
Catholics worship Mary
Catholics worship statues
The Pope is evil etc.

Oh yeah I’ve heard of that one! Someone said there’s many bodies of babies from hidden unwanted pregnancies of nuns that needed to be hidden. :rotfl: It’s funny but not really funny but funny that people believe such things.

That we believe unbaptized aborted babies don’t get saved, smh

That we oppress women and we make up for it by worshiping Mary. No, I’m not even kidding!

The pope is the anti Christ. The Church is the whore of Babylon.

That’s really terrible! I can’t believe people actually fall for the lies. I mean, since when has society been on the side of the church? We need to pray for our priests, now more than ever.

I’m reading through the original 1000 Nights and a Night (aka the Arabian Nights) and I’m nearing the end of a story about a war between Christians and Muslims. Of course the Christians are regularly referred to as faithless and infidels and polytheists and are constantly swearing to the cross, the belt (part of the uniform they were forced to wear under certain of the caliphs), the messiah, and…the pope’s poop.

You see, in the story, another thing the Christians revere and adore above all else is the incense used in the churches and during blessings. According to the medieval Muslim author, this incense was made by taking regular incense and mixing it with the pope or metropolitan’s poop, which, apparently, the Christians thought made it super-duper-holy. In fact they liked the pope’s poop-incense so much that they had the poopy ashes smeared on their faces to further their blessing. In the story it is referred to as the “Holy Merde”.

That a variety of Papal titles, using whatever coding system someone cares to invent, all come out to equate to “666.” That people pay to have their sins forgiven. The “Jesuit Oath” to lie when needed and to kill Protestants.

The whole blog…
