A couple of weeks back there was a “favorite movie ending” thread. Now how about a favorite movie scene? This topic was done back in 2013 as I discovered when I wrote out the topic title. Time for some updates, I figured.

I’ll throw in this clip from Outlaw Josie Wales. The first 30 seconds;

From the title I thought this was going to be favorite scene from a movie released in 2020. That would be a short list. 🤣

Something more recent. Rooftop chase from Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018).

The scene in Casablanca where the French national anthem La Marsellaise drowns out the Germans singing Die Wacht am Rhine.

(which also contains the “scene within a scene” where Bogart nods his approval, thus casting his lot with the opponents of the Nazis)

I have dozens of favorite movie scenes, one of which is the scene from Beneix’ “Diva” (1981) where the evil police commissioner gets what’s coming to him. I cannot post it here, alas, because of Vimeo’s idiosyncrasies, but it may be found at 1h49m10s into the film.

Say what you will about the prequels, they absolutely had the best lightsaber fights, duel of the fates from Episode I is a extremely close second in my opinion.
I’m triggered. Personally attacked. The lightsaber fights were among the prequels most egregious offenses.

To each their own I guess.
It’s the cardinal sin of George Lucas: “just add more CGI, bro.” So the lightsaber duels no longer look like duels but become two people spastically twirling and waving glow sticks. It’s basically a rave.

I though the duel involving Darth Maul vs Qui Gon & Obi Wan was good but the rest of the prequel duels were junk for the reasons you stated - just like the rest of the prequels.

Lucas IMHO botched up a lot of the prequels. Darth Maul was IMHO wicked cool. What does Lucas do? Kill him off and replace him with like 90 year old
Christopher Lee, who scared no one.
