We might need to start a Godfather thread. šŸ˜‚

I love the whole scene when Michael is in Italy, asking Appoloniaā€™s father for permission to marry his daughter.

If you are a fan of the films (even part 3
wink
) post here.
Here you go!

Letā€™s go discuss!

Apolloniaā€™s dad is played by Sicilian actor SarĆ² Urzi.

Heā€™s in a dark comedy called ā€œSeduced and Abandonedā€ about a Sicilian father whose daughter was seduced by the fiancĆ© of her older sister.

He is trying to force the young man to marry his daughter, all without having the village find out about his ā€œdishonoredā€ family.

Here is a scene unfortunately no subtitles.

But Iā€™ll explain.

He is reading a letter from his daughterā€™s boyfriend who is in the military. The letter is to the daughter, heā€™s reading to make sure there are no suggestive parts. Itā€™s very boring, he talks about his ability at talking apart his gun, getting a special meal of rigatoni with sauce. How he developed a rash and couldnā€™t sleep, and since he was awake, he thought of writing to the girlfriend.

The dad hands her the letter and says, rarely have I read anything more stupid than this. But he checks under the stamp and it says ā€œI send passionate kisses to your lipsā€

He gets mad, says that she must write to him that if he sends another letter like that heā€™ll flush it down the toilet. Calls him a dirty traitor, and slams his sonā€™s hand in his anger.

This is another quote that Frodo says to Sam as it looks like they are about to die on Mount Doom. This is a rather heartwarming quote even as everything about it is tinged with sorrow.

RELATED: The Lord of the Rings: 10 Fan Fiction Relationships We Wish Were Real

Sam is really the person that got him through everything, and Frodo shows how much Sam means to him when he expresses this emotion. While they might be about to die, at least they arenā€™t there alone.

This is what friendship is about. It could not be displayed more perfectlyā€¦ except by Our Savior on the Cross.

I donā€™t think itā€™s necessarily the best scene ever, but the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey is mind-boggling and iconic. Definitely deserves a shout-out.

Also, itā€™s not from a movie, but the ending scene from S4 E11 of Breaking Bad, ā€œCrawl Spaceā€, is one of the most disturbingly intense scenes Iā€™ve ever watched. So well-acted, well-shot and well-written.

I was an EMT/Firefighter from 1989-1994. Was an EMT from 1987-1994. My favorite movie scene:

Roy: Well, guess Iā€™d better be going home.
John: Yeah, I got to go too.
(start walking towards the parking lot)
John: Now, we are going to stay in touch with one another. Right?
Roy: Right. Itā€™s not like weā€™re moving out of town or anything, we are still here, still in the same department, still friends.
John: Thatā€™s exactly what I mean. Roy?
Roy: Yeah.
(Johnny nods, puts his uniform cap on and says to Roy)
John: I tell you what, how about I walk you to your car

This was ā€œGreatest Rescues of Emergency!ā€ and itā€™s where John Gage and Roy Desoto were promoted to the rank of Captain in the LACoFD. The real chief at the time had a cameo appearance, as did many of the real firefighter paramedics (and the real life LACoFD firefighter dispatcher) from the early days of the paramedic concept in Los Angeles. Hollywood doesnā€™t make things like this anymore, which is sad.

I just watched A Fistful of Dollars for the first time. This clip was shown in Back to the Future Part II, and Marty used it as inspiration for his duel in BTTF Part III. Took me 30 years, but I finally saw the original!

EDIT: This article from a Back to the Future Wiki notes that the clip of Fistful of Dollars shown in BTTF2 has some differences from the original. A Fistful of Dollars | Futurepedia | Fandom

I am getting goosebumps just by reminding myself this scene. Iā€™m a guy and I always cry at this scene.
Itā€™s probably my favourite of all time too

This is one of my favorite clips from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

At the 1 minute mark of this clip, when the light swells, it makes the Rohirrim look like an angel army mowing down the minions of Satan. šŸ˜ƒ

The opera scene from The Fifth Element is one that stands out. I canā€™t think of a single scene from any film that encapsulates the entire film itā€™s in better than this one. Itā€™s fantastical French madness set to a truly beautiful score, edited to perfection, with brilliant fight choreography.

I thought this was going to be favorite scene from a movie released in 2020
I thought of that long after I could have changed the title. For anyone else who is wondering, the 2020 is to distinguish this discussion from the 2013 one. šŸ™‚
