Favorite Pope

Innocent III- commemorated in the US House Representatives as one of the world’s great lawmakers
Pius V- down to business facing down challenges from the protestants as well as the Turks at Lepanto
Urban II- faced up to the challenges of the saracens in protecting pilgrims to the Holy Land
Julius II- for his patronage of Michaelangelo and Raphael
John XII- for his extreme precociousness, and being elected as the Holy Father at age 18
 
Pius X, For his stance on modernism
Leo XIII, Leonine Prayers
Benedict XVI, Current work on reviving the TLM
 
For me: Benedict XVI.

But these Holy Father’s made history class less boring:

Alexander VI
Pius III
Julius II

I’m inclined in admiration towards Pope Gregory the Great. His works on Gregorian Chant is something of all centuries. If Heaven could play songs, it would be Gregorian Chant.

If I may, you may want to take the time to read the Traditional Catholic forum rules. One of those rules list things that are not allowed to be disparaged. That would include Vatican II

My favorite Popes are :
  1. St. Peter, the first Pope of the Holy Catholic Church
  2. Blessed Pope John Paul II ( I absolutely love him for everything. I think hes my second favorite Pope after Peter )
    I think thats it as for as favorites go 😃

Oops I almost forgot to put Pope Benedict XVI in my list. I absolutely love him too.
 
Oh my goodness, there’s too many to mention! How can I have just one?

My favorites, in no particular order, are:

St. Peter (you just gotta love someone who constantly puts his foot in his mouth, leaps before he looks, and still gets asked by Our Lord, ‘Do you love Me?’)
St. Pius V (he stood up to the Protestants, and saved Europe from the Moslems by praying Our Lady’s Rosary)
St. Pius X (called a spade a spade, a good honest man who wasn’t afraid of anyone in the world)
Venerable Pius XII (stood up to the Nazis and the Communists)
Blessed John Paul II (saw him three times in my life, four counting when he was a Cardinal and visited the US in 1976. Loved him for his devotion to Our Lady)
Benedict XVI (for his work in restoring the TLM. And because I’m half-German, on my mother’s side ! 😃 😉 )

I also admire St. Leo the Great, St. Gregory the Great, and Innocent III (I didn’t know his likeness is in the US House of Representatives!). And Leo XIII for giving us the Prayer to St. Michael!
 
Julius II

I hope we get another Pope Julius before I die. =D
 
Pope Saint Pius V for saving Christendom by calling for the defense of Europe in getting Don Juan of Austria to lead the Holy League that routed the Moslem Armada at the Battle of Lepanto.
Also for Pius V codification of the Roman Missal in “Quo Primum”.

Pope Saint Pius X for exposing the heresy of Modernism for what it is in releasing “Pascendi Dominici Gregis”.
 
Mine is Pope St Pius X, closely followed by Pope St Pius V. Two very strong popes, unaffected by the liberalisms which surrounded them and sprang up in their day. Also, the last two to be canonized.

By the way, I started a group on this forum a while ago called: "Devotees of Pope St. Pius X" - I don’t know how to link to it here, or even if I’m allowed to, but anyone who is devoted to St Pius X, please feel welcome to join.
 
I was recently reminded of Pope John XXIII whom I would say is my favorite Pope of living memory.
