Just curious, among Traditional Catholics, who is your favorite Pope ? I know some Popes in the poll are not considered Traditional, but I thought I’d just put the last ten Popes up there. I didn’t want to pick and choose, so I just put them in chronological order starting with Blessed Pius IX. I started with him because several historians see him as the start of “the modern era Papacy.” One notable exception, I left off John Paul I, due to the shortness of his Papacy, so if he is your favorite, don’t vote and put it in your post.

Pio nono all the way. He had to go into exile from Rome, he suffered because of the faith.

Oh, by the way, mine is Blessed Pius IX. Close call though for me as I also really like St. Pius X, Leo XIII, Ven. Pius XII, and Pius XI.

Make us choose, eh? Personally, I put Pius XII, but Benedict XV and Leo XIII rank very close.

For me, I have to go with my patron saint, St. Pius X. Second place, Bl. Pius IX, third place, Benedict XV. Honorable mention goes to Pius XII.

I voted for Saint Pius X. My three favorite popes in history, in no particular order, are St. Pius V, Blessed Pius IX, and St. Pius X.

Actually, it’s a three way tie between John XXIII, Benedict XVI and PJII, with Paul VI running a close second. I always thought it took real fortitude and a willingness to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to issue Humanae Vitae, eps. at that time in History.

So many good Popes to choose from, but I selected Pope Leo XIII, primarily due to some of his great encyclicals, such as Libertas and Satis Cognitum.

You didn’t go far back enough. The one immediately preceding Pius IX. It is becoming realised that his transport policy was right all along.

I would have put Gregory XVI in there, as he is one of my favorite Popes, but the polls only allow for ten options. I didn’t want to skip anybody, so I just went by chronological order according to what most historians consider the “modern era papacy,” and that started with Blessed Pius IX. To fit them all in there, I had to skip someone, so I decided on Pope John Paul I, due to the fact that his Papacy was so short.

That sounds a lot like me. Pius IX and Pius X are by far my favorite Popes, and I had a hard time choosing. However I must say that lately I have taken much more of a liking to Pius XI. I have just recently read some great stuff from and about him. I must say he probably is the “greatest forgotten Pope of the 20th century.”

Hi all. What about St.Peter our first Pope? Christ said “Upon this Rock I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Peter was Christ’s favorite so I’ll to vote for Peter.Just my 2 cents worth.God Bless to all

Pio Nono 🙂

If any other devotees of his are interested, I wrote a Chaplet of Bl. Pius IX, prayed on standard Rosary beads. PM me if you’d like the text. The main prayers are essentially reworking of words from his writings with the concluding prayer based on John Paul II’s homily beatifying him. :getholy:

I voted for Pius XII, anyone who had to deal with nutcase dictators like Hitler had to be very special. Difficult times call for great leaders and Pius XII saved thousands of Jews and other minorities. It is an outrage that he did not get proper credit for his heroics.

Indeed, the Haulocost Museum in Jerusalem has but one mention of Pius XII- a sign that accuses him of sitting on his butt and doing nothing.
