So many great men. Im going to go with Pius XI, though its a tough call.

my absolute favorite pope of all time is Leo XIII and secondly, Blessed Pius IX then, Pope Saint Pius X.

With so many excellent popes to choose from, I suddenly settled on Blessed Pio Nono when it occurred to me, “That guy had some nerve.” I like his audacity, frankness, and longsuffering.

the greatest one he ever wrote, Humanum Genus!
I like this one : Pastoralis Officii (On the Morality of Deuling) 🙂

Leo XIII is a very interesting Pope. He was very solicitous to the East–he began the de-Latinization of the Eastern rites, he reached out to the separated East and tried to work for re-union, and he proclaimed three eastern Doctors of the Church. He seemed to care greatly about the re-union of all Christians (the other Doctor he proclaimed came from another now-separated Church, that of England) writing an encyclical on the topic and founding the Confraternity of Compassion, where Catholics and non-Catholics could pray together for unity.

My favorite part in St. Therese’s autobiography was when she met Pope Leo 👍

Wow what a great list! I haven’t really noticed how blessed this century is to have such wonderful popes. One can clearly see that the Holy Spirit is was and is truly at work especially in these tumultuous centuries filled with wars, relativism, secularism, and other horrible problems both inside and outside the church.

I would have to say for now Benedict XVI 🙂

Many people seem to connect more with John Paul II for his charism and such, but I connect more with our current pope. He seems more quiet in his mannerisms but interestingly enough the man’s words surely pack a punch! He isn’t afraid to describe things as they really are. 👍
