Make it four votes!
Very well then. Now, let’s see if we can properly identify Father Mulcahy’s religious order.

He wears a Loyola Sweatshirt, and I am pretty sure I once heard him refer to “the society” any thoughts on whether our Captain Mulcahy is a Jesuit?

We’ve tried to play this before, hopefully the forum stays up this time!

Who is your favorite TV or movie Priest?

Let’s just do the priest this time, no nuns and no brothers. We’ll vote for them in a seperate thread.

Mine is easily Father Ted Crilly from Father Ted. Anyone?
Tim, Tim, I wanna play too!! I like Father Majewski on All in the Family.

Archie visits Fr. Majewski,
“I wanna talk to you father 'dere, about turning my wife into a Catholic”

Fr. M: Gee Archie, you make it sound like some kind of horror movie. Tell me, when does this happen, at midnight under a full moon.

Archie: you know what I mean.

Fr. M: Why aren’t you talking about this with your own pastor?

Archie: The Reverend Feltcher…

Fr. M: Fletcher…

Archie: Whatever…he’s turned more Protestants into Catholics than you have.

Fr. M: Archie, if the ignorant were blessed, you’d be a saint. 😃

He did play the part well. But then again, so did Gabriel Byrne in Stigmata
I’ve never viewed Stigmata…should I?

This thread makes me think of all the negativity I’ve perceived when viewing priests portrayed in Hollywood movies or pop books.

I like to think they are angelic…but the fact is they are just humans…just humans…he he.

I’ve seen it. It’s not really exorcist scary. But to me it was comparable to Holiness folks who speak in tongues. It was hard to follow as to who was good and who wasn’t. I did find it interesting that young woman with no religious background was the lead character. The writing she wrote on the wall was interesting…I don’t like floating crucifixtion though…I can’t even sit through Jesus of Nazareth…makes me cry too much.

I guess I like the “history” part of it…and of course it stereotypes the catholic church with layers and layers of secrecy…shhhh…only the few chosen can know. I thought they could be more creative than that.

Hey! You’re not supposed to know about our secrecy! That’s it, I’m calling the illuminati…just you wait…

Yup! There was an episode where his Jesuitness 🙂 was obvious. What else could he be–he also boxed and played ragtime!

Alberich

How obvious was it? Was he attending a pro-choice rally?

 Did I say that out loud? 😛

Tim…when you “graduate” come to NC, we’ll sit on the deck and have some ice tea and you can tell me the secrets! Just be yourself…no robes or anything like that…the south is very relaxed.

(oh, and bring me some bread, provolone, capacole, proscuitto, hot sausage grinder with peppers and onions…and some rum cake from the La Fiorentina bakery in Springfield, MA)

Prosciutto, mmmmmmmmmm

Reminds me of the days when I lived in Sicily. Panini for all!

I vote for Father Mulcahey.

The character did so much to promote God, religion, and the Catholic Church to the public as GOOD!

The whole time I was watching MASH, I was Protesant, but I stilled loved Father Mulcahey.

So one might say…Father Mulcahy was the reason you became Catholic…

Let’s open a case to canonize him!

am I showing my age? does no one, not even the Italians here, vote for Fr. Guido Sarducci?

I’m not Italian by my father did learn to make his own prosciutto because our family loves the stuff so much … add a few olives and marinated artichokes, roasted peppers, bocconcini and some ripe tomatoes … oh baby!

Fr Guido Sarducii from the Smothers Brothers show was just hilarius.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood. No, wait, he’s an assassin posing as a priest. Actually, I don’t even think he’s supposed to be a priest and not a preacher.

I’ll have to go with the guy from Scarlet and the Black, then.

Or, so far, the vampire hunter in “Trinity Blood,” but A) that may go downhill into anti-Catholicism fast, like Hellsing did, and B) I don’t think Holy Orders for a vampire-eating vampire is really valid.

I also like the priest in my own vampire novel, as yet unfinished, but that’s not a TV show. Yet. 🙂

Fr. MulCahy from MASH, of course.

And Fr. Tylenol Riggley from the movie Superstar, mainly because he looks like my cousin who I doubt would ever be a priest.

And Fr. Dougal from the show Father ted. “There’s a big pile of boxes in the middle of the road!”
