“Raiders March” from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark by John Williams.

Honestly, I could listen to the music of John Williams all day long. 🤓

“O Mio Babbino Caro” – an aria from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Puccini – used in the movie A Room With a View.

My voice teacher had me learn this piece in college. It is as difficult as it is beautiful. Never could quite master a smooth-sounding octave leap.

The theme from the movie “The Molly Maguires” It enchants my Celtic roots.

Next up is the theme from the “Pink Panther”

Of course no favorite theme thread would not be complete without “Lara’s Theme” from Doctor Zhivago"

Finally I enjoyed this opening theme from the movie Oscar.

I saw it so many years ago. I thought it was very funny. It’s hard to find.

I bought myself a copy of it when I saw it in a store years ago – so thankful I did because it is difficult to find.

I have never even heard of this tv show.
I was in college from 1970-1974 and did not have a tv. It must have aired during those years. Good cast! @Tis_Bearself

That “O Mio Babbino Caro” song has also been used in a number of TV commercials. I remember it especially from some luxury goods ad in the 80s.

It was a British series, I think some US station used it as a summer fill-in. My dad was excited to see it. I was about 11 or 12 and didn’t appreciate how great the cast was at that time, but I was all like “ooo Paul McCartney did the theme!”

Milt, if you like Celtic themes, this one by Mark Knopfler (of Dire Straits fame) is for you.
Good movie too, if you haven’t seen it (but very sad movie).

To me Cheers is the best TV theme song of all time, but that’s already been mentioned. 🙂
I like a lot of the 70s crime show themes, especially the Quinn Martin productions. Barnaby Jones wasn’t that great of a show but it’s theme Is pretty cool for a show about a senior citizen detective.

My favorite movie theme is probably The Great Escape. That’s one where both the theme really speaks to the epicness of the movie.

And to be fair, since this is a Catholic forum, the closing theme of Lilies of the Field with Sidney Poitier’s character and the nuns singing as he packs up and leaves is a powerful moment.

“Laura” form the movie, sung by John. So hauntingly beautiful.

You’re very welcome. Milt. I think it’s a beautiful song. 😃

Anyone else remember how popular this song was when this movie came out? I was so young when it came out, that I only vaguely remember the movie (something about a rat) and that it was really sad.

From The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Ennio Morricone, The Ecstasy of Gold

From the soundtrack:

From the movie;

Just thought about Green Acres

and The Beverly Hillbillies

A bunch of nonsensical fun from the 60’s.
