Yes they are 😃
The only way I could get paid for singing is if someone paid me to clear the building? 😱

Did you get in? 😃
Oh, yes, but I had already sung opera in Europe. Everyone has to audition, though. Only fair.

I am a lyric coloratura, and I love it! I would not want to be anything else. People hear me practicing, but they rarely hear me speak. I can’t even get married because that would mean a family and talking! For me, my voice is a gift from G-d, so I like to sing sacred music, but it’s not always possible. I can’t cook, can’t bake, don’t have a green thumb despite loving flowers, and not athletic, etc., so I have to sing! It’s about all I have. That, and I can speak several languages.

Good luck with your musical career. Do you sing any where now?
I’m a public school music teacher. My students are K-5 (ages 5 - 11) and they are the only ones who hear me sing outside of church. When I was finishing my Bachelor of Music degree, I developed completely paralyzing stage fright, unless I was singing with a large group.

You know how God uses everything for our good? Well, my stage fright kept me away from trying to be a performer and directed me towards education. The first time I walked into an elementary music classroom, I was totally at home! šŸ˜ And I still love it so much. If my health holds up, I’ll work until I’m at least 65, because I love that I can make a difference in the lives of children, and be around music all day.

I did make a couple ā€œvideosā€ for YouTube, just to push me past my fears a bit. Here’s one. I was recovering from a cold, but I think that gives me a tiny raspy folk sound. šŸ˜„ My 18-month-old son was in the other room when we recorded. I regret we didn’t get his laugh or his voice on this recording.

If you have a recording you’re willing to share, I would love it if you would post it. I think the coloratura voice is just so lovely.

You just need some training, @Milt. But if you don’t love to sing, it’s best to stick to curmudgeonness! šŸ˜‰

That’s lovely! And it’s lovely you have found fulfilment in teaching! šŸ™‚ Children need to be exposed to beautiful music.

I want to put some YouTube videos up, but I never seem to have time, and I work for a singer, he doesn’t work for me! LOL He keeps me busy, but hopefully soon I’ll have some up. I will let you know when I do.

We have an Episcopal church here that actually recruits its choir from ā€œoutsideā€ and pays them. They asked me to sing for them, but I said ā€œno.ā€ I’m not Episcopalian, and I don’t have the time anyway. They are a beautiful choir, though. Every summer, they tour Europe.

This album came out in the 90s, a bunch of covers of Saturday morning cartoons from the 70s.

I’m pretty sure that picture is an accurate representation of me and my friends after watching too many cartoons and eating too many bowls of sugary cereal…

I really like this duet, especially the musical prelude that takes up the first three minutes. Unfortunately the soprano makes some ugly noises for some reason.

I would love to sing, but I sort of damaged by voice box many years ago. It is okay though since I could have easily died.
We all thank G-d that didn’t happen!

It’s not easy being a singer anyway, and classical singers are the worst. We worry about colds and drafts and even clearing out throat. John and I both really do not talk for two days preceding a concert. Only when absolutely necessary. Like saying, ā€œThe stove is on fire!ā€

I love the music in Amadeus, but Bach is still my first love.

Of course, this is a good thing. I quite enjoy medieval moniphony, Renaissance, Classical and Romantic Era along with the Baroque.
