I picked Ave Maria but also love Immculate Mary and Hail Holy Queen… however I think that Here I Am Lord might be my fav, or maybe On Eagle’s Wings… how to pick? Thanks for posting the poll, stated me singing in my head and heart!👍

I didn’t realize it was multiple choice until it was too late. When asked for a favorite hymn, I generally choose the best tune. I chose Thaxted, very soothing, but there are other good tunes on the list.

My two Favorite Hymns are Holy God We Praise Thy Name & Sing of Mary
Sing of Mary is probably my # 1 Favorite Hymn, it speaks a Beautiful Message of our Faith, its actually not only a Marian Hymn but a Holy Family Hymn, Sing of Mary v1 sing of Jesus v2 and Sing of Joseph v3 😃

I am not Catholic but I have always loved the “Holy God, We Praise Thy Name” hymn. 🙂

“Holy God, We Praise Thy Name”: with all 5 (or 6?) verses sung. It goes on and on and on.

“I Vow to Thee, My Country” with a pipe organ, and a congregation which knows how to sing it, and raise the ceiling of the church (mine does!) while they`re doing it.

Not there, but:
“Hail Redeemer, King Divine”…all verses.
“Come Holy Ghost, Creator, Come”…all verses.

Catholics can sing when given decent hymns.

They played “America the Beautiful” today. So if that’s hymn why can’t the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner be as well?

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Ave Maria, no doubt about it. And then the Panis Angelica, beautiful. 😉

I didn’t actually vote because I have to admit I can’t remember most of the songs on the list. I have never like the song Immaculate Mary, probably because of the way we sang it in grade school…im MAC u late MA ry your PRAISES we sing…Maybe you have to hear Maybe you need to hear 500 grade schoolers sing it to get the same sound in your head that I have.

I love the Gregorian Ave Maria which was the only one we ever used when I was a kid. Even at a wedding, that’s what we sang. There was a different Ave Maria at my wedding, but I’m not sure I remember the composer’s name, something like Rosewig or Rosensweig. I do like that one too, but the Schubert has lost it’s charm for me. I’ve heard it mangled and seen people ice skate to it, and even been in Blossom Time’s chorus about 35 years ago.

I like I Know That My Redeemer Lives, the one that has the next line goes The one that calls me home. NOT the one that says He lives over and over and ends the first verse with my ever living head. I don’t like that one at all, not the words and I can’t sing it well because there’s no place to breathe in a couple lines.

An old song I’ve only recently learned is In Christ There Is No East or West, and I really like that. I wouldn’t call it a Catholic song specifically, but I like the melody and words, and there’s plenty of time to breathe.
