Next 15 songs on my Media Player [not necessarily ROCK mind you]:

Death Cab for Cutie-Soul Meets Body
Breaking Benjamin-Blow me Away
Trocadero-A Girl Named Tex
Smashing Pumpkins-Tonight, Tonight
Soulcracker-16 oz.
T.I.-Bring 'em Out
Green Day-Holiday
Offspring-Gone Away
Lo Fidelity All Stars-Battle Flag
Mellisa Auf Der Maur-Followed the Waves
Lucky Boys Confusion-Saturday night
Gene Chandler-The Duke of Earl
Metallica-Fade to Black
Johnny Cash-Sam Hill
Johnny Cash-Hurt

Rare that the randomizer groups two in a row, but hey, Johnny’s the man.

Glad to see there was at least one other post for Rush. Far and away one of my all-time favorites. Others on my list:

Tom Petty (with and without the Hearbreakers)
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Allman Brothers
Led Zeppelin (up to and including Physical Graffitti)
Rolling Stones (up to Some Girls)
Mettalica (at least the older stuff - although the covers on their Garage Inc. album are pretty good)

And many many others. Some of the newer alternative stuff is pretty good and I really liked Pearl Jam in their early years and stuff in the vein.

Below is a link to pro-abortion bands and solo artists. If you’d prefer to keep your moral blinders on, it’s best not to visit this site. However, if moral integrity is important to you, and you take your Catholic faith seriously, it’s worth reading. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be needing a heavy duty shredder. Or, wear safety glasses, and you can simply snap the CD’s and LP’s. Tapes are the easiest to destroy of physical media, and, of course, MP3s only require use of the delete button.

Destroying this stuff was painful. But, not nearly so painful as what 1.3 million+ babies endure each year.

There is also a pro-life page on the site, and a lot of additional pro-life information. The organization, Rock for Life, is an affiliate of American Life League, probably the premier pro-life organization.

The band I like I don’t see either way. So I guess Rush is okay. But this moral preaching must stop. Just because we like the music doesn’t mean we support abortion.

I agree; the thread is about favorite rock bands.

My question for John- you’ve posted this twice in the past week- do you not realize that is poor forum ettiquette?

I wonder if there are any gnr fans here? I know they haven’t made an album in 13 years but are “supposed” to be coming out with a new album called “Chinese Democracy” this year. My question is: Would you buy it ( if it actually comes out)knowing that Axl Rose is the only sole original member of the group ( No McKagan, Straddlin, Adler, Slash etc).

Funny and the group started off good but was finished in barely 10 years ( original line up) lol

Are you going to point us to a site with concrete proof or this site over and over with little to no proof?

I guess John Kearns posted twice because he wanted his post to be seen on second page as well. IMO he should start his own thread if he wants to talk about pro-abortion bands since it doesn’t seem all that relevant to this particular thread.

Now, back to the thread.

Yep I am a GnR fan, forgot to mention them in my last post but they are one of my fav rock bands after Led Zep. I’ve got their ‘greatest hits’ album, funny thing there is I like all of the first 9 tracks and almost none of the rest (5 tracks) on that album, although ‘Aint it fun’ isn’t too bad. Their cover of ‘knocking on heaven’s door’ is great except the ending goes way too long, would have been good if it was about 32 bars shorter.

As for Chinese Democracy - Every year it is ‘supposed’ to come out, sometimes I wonder if we will ever see it. If it does come out though I think I will buy it, because I’d be interested to see what a CD that takes 13 years to make sounds like. What’s more, I’m not too impressed by Velvet Revolver (the band which most other GnR members formed after the original split) so I’m guessing that GnR wouldn’t have been that great with the old musicians anyway, they’re sort of past their prime or out of ideas and it will be cool to hear some fresh new talent. Not that I’m a huge fan of Axl (my fav bits of GnR songs are often the instrumental parts) but I’m guessing that the new musos he has hired must manage to sound something like old school GnR, after all they wouldn’t want to upset fans.

lol I guess, but still nothing’s gonna compare to slash on guitar… his riffs are wicked. And his riffs in Velvet Revolver aren’t that bad…oh well the band’s always gonna messed up from now on (GNR)

Welcome To The Jungle lol

Sweet Child of Mine (-:
Sadly, I have never jammed with a guitarist who can actually play the solo from that song. It would be so cool to cover it one day (the bass line is easy but good).

By the way Podo, I love your sig!

90% Country Fan here. 😃

The 10% rock,is bands like U2,Jewel,David Grey and I will always dig the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

I admit I’m a rock n roll girl. Has anyone else seen “School of Rock” with Jack Black. I love his history of rock that he teaches the kids and I need to buy the soundtrack. That Movie Rocked!

After listening to secular/wordly rock groups for years I have discovered the Catholic rock group Katholicus. The sound is hard to describe. Almost an 80s -early 90s rock sound, sort of like Eddie Van Halen playing the songs of Collective Soul or Green Day. It’s power guitar chords, lots of solos and double-leads, yet with catchy pop melodies. You can hear them at cdbaby/cd/katholicus. 👍

I enjoy Iggy Pop when it comes to classics. Springsteen, a few songs.

Oh so many good bands out there.
I think that after listening to the Cream live at Royal Albert Hall 2005 it is safe to say that Cream is my favorite band now.
What a recording and an outstanding performance by the 3 original members of the band. It is one of the few bands that still have its original members.
Another great band is U2. I started listening to them in the 80’s when they came out with “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Years Day”. Then along came “Pride (In The Name of Love)”, what a fantastically written song. “With or Without You” and “Still Haven’t Found” are totally amazing as well.

The music world has so much to offer. If it wasn’t for music I don’t know what I would have done to get through hard times.
Keep in mind that there is a good side and those who venture out to find the answers in everything.
Cheers,
CraigG 👍
