WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE ROCK SONG?!!
😃 :whacky: :bounce:

PODO2005

Time Stand Still
instrumental-YYZ
both by Rush of course

Love the One You’re With - Stephen Stills
Give Me Some Lovin’ - Spencer Davis Group
Dancin’ In The Streets - Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
Traces - David Yost and The Classics V
The Letter - Boxtops

I have listed the aforementioned songs because one thing I’ve noticed; no matter what people are doing when one of these timeless classics comes on, they’re captvated. That to me has to be the criteria for selecting a “greatest song” as subjective as that is. In spite of the age and the enormous plays a song has gotten through the years, if a song still possess that ‘captivating’ quality it has to be considered ‘great’. YMMV 🙂

I don’t really go for Rock music, (except Elvis Presley) but Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” has all the hallmarks of a classic song.

I agree, it’s definitely a classic. ‘Light My Fire’ by the Doors is right up there with it.

I love those songs. My husband used to play some of them on his guitar to me.😃

Another Rush fan here. I have seen them nearly 40 times since 1977.

“Exit Stage Left”, “The Grace Under Pressure Tour”, and “A Show of Hands” are all coming out on DVD this spring. R30 is awesome. It was filmed in HD.

It looks fine on a regular tv.

So am I the only child of the 80’s who thinks that 99% of 80’s music sucked?
You mean 99% of ALL music since the 70’s, and most of what doesn’t has been released by bands that have been around since then.

I was born in '77, so I love the 80s. My favorite band for the last seven years has been Jars of Clay.

There’s been some worthwhile bands. Early U2 and REM come to mind. I spent the 80’s listening mostly to bands like the Dead Kennedys, DRI, Shanghai Dog, Skin Yard, Black Flag and a whole lot of punk bands no one’s ever heard of.

Post 80’s, I lke grunge. Alice in Chains, Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam (early stuff), Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc.

There’s been some pretty good metal bands, too. Metallica (pre Black album), Megadeth, Pantera, Testament (the Skolnick years), Sepultura, Death (say what you want, amazing musicianship from those boys).

More recently, I like Green Day (closest to real punk of the new generation), Nickelback, Creed’s alright, Rammstein, KMFDM.

I do, however, wish Franz Ferdinand’s fifteen minutes of fame would end. Disco is dead!

Still none, of them hold a candle to the likes of The Who, Buddy Holly, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Ramones, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Cream, Rush, BTO…

Van Halen
Thin Lizzy
Whitesnake
Gunn
Sex Pistols (punk rock)
The Undertones
