I don’t know if this thread has been done recently – my search of CAF just left me with a rotating hourglass icon, and after two minutes, it was a bit much :whacky:
Anyone have any lyrics, say a line or two, that they just happen to really like, in secular pop music? Like maybe the song is a favourite, or even not so much, but a particular line just stands right out for you?
I’ll give you a couple of mine:
Neil Diamond’s “Brooklyn Roads”, one of my faves by him, has a couple of lines that just strikes a chord in me:
Y’all got any?
Note: I’m restricting this to pop music, I’ll open another thread for hymns and such.

- “…and life filled to the brim as I stood by my window and looked out those
Brooklyn Roads…”*
- “…and no one heard at all, not even the chair.”*

- “…but I’m not a man who likes to swear
But I never cared for the sound of being alone.”
- “I am, I said,
I am, I cried,
I am…”*
Y’all got any?
