What gentlemenly response! Talking about how “defensive” someone is for responding to what seemed like a slight against Facebook users, and now calling Deborah123 a Facebook “addict”.

Ironically, Facebook makes it harder to insult others because the name and face is usually attached. It’s very easy to talk the way your doing because you can hide under a mask.
I was joking… are you this sensitive on facebook?😃

LOL!
Person A: I dont drink
Person B: Whoa, hey man, that is your right I guess… But not everyone who drinks is an alcholholic You better be careful telling people you dont drink. I drink and I dont do ANY of the things I’m sure a judgemental puritan like yourself thinks I do.
Person A Oh, ok Im glad I have your approval not to drink… You sound a little defensive;)
Person B Oh man, you are such a judgmental freak. Go have a drink. It isn’t as bad as cocaine and it comes from the earth… Jesus drank!
Person A Good luck to ya buddy…

Calm down people, Facebook just isn’t for me. Be careful and use it in moderation and for the right purpose and i am sure you will be fine!!!

No, and even with the icons it really didn’t seem like you where.
You are not known for being so strait…
Perhaps this is a sensitive subject… I can back off and definitely apologize.
I am sorry for calling anyone an addict.

The difference is obvious. This is a forum to discuss. With anonymous posters. It honestly does not affect my life. I have seen friendships, ministry teams, jobs and families get destroyed by facebook posts. But it isnt facebook to blame. But to underestimate the sheer power of it is the folly of many a user…
Wow, you must know some pretty… um interesting people then lol!

I can always count on you to come to my defense, Rascalking! :flowers:

I have both, but find CAF much more addictive. I was going to school very far away from family and was starting a family of my own. So we had fb in order to keep Grandparents and relative and a few friends up to date with baby and us.

I usually start a fb game and play it for a few weeks and then it gets dropped. I just don’t have the attention span to play fb games. Thus I probably spend a total of 5 minutes on fb, by going on 3 times a day and spending less then 2 minutes on it each time.

But I spend way top much time on CAF, and while I learn, and grow, and it helps to remind me to pray and get myself to the confessional, it still plays into some of my weaknesses, like procrastination and sloth.

I have a Facebook account but frankly I find little there worth bothering with. I use none of the games or other applications and generally restrict doing much posting.

I will admit though that it came in handy recently during a family tragedy when it made it quite easy to communicate among far flung relations.

Likewise, I am able to see what my granddaughters are posting and can be of support to them.

CAF on the other hand is almost an avocation with me. I enjoy the camaraderie, the sharing, the teaching and learning, in short - pretty much everything about it.

Thank God for CAF.

Peace
James
Same, I only got an account on Facebook to see what games my cousins were playing everytime we had a family gathering (Farmville - the game didn’t work right on my computer after awhile, so I stopped playing).

So have I. Well, relationships mostly, quite a lot of them. :o
Facebook is a dangerous world.

I agree. My family is all atheist so any time I post something pro-life they get insulted, then I have friends who are friends with people who I have strained relationships with, there are people on there from our youth ministry where we are currently living and our local friends and the friends and acquaintances from North America and it’s just one huge mumbo-jumbo and I have to keep everything so limited so that the right hand doesn’t find out what the left is doing. I tried having multiple accounts but they shut you down once they figure out you’re the same person.

I think you should be allowed one account for each country you’ve lived in!

I guess because of all of this I ended up distancing myself from facebook and CAF is the new addiction lol

I put facebook, but that is because that is where my friends and family social network and they tend to be kinder to me then most of the people on here. It makes it easier to keep in contact with everyone now that I live on the opposite side of the country from all my friends and family.

I know, right? Same here! To me, facebook is so friendly and peaceful in comparison lol!

I don’t have facebook. :o

So I guess CAF is more adicting. :o

But my sister went on Facebook recently when our second cousin contacted her looking for me. She’s been looking for me for “such a long time”. But our mothers speak on the phone often enough. Why not ask her mother to get my phone number and call and have a conversation?

My mom is in her late 60’s and does not use a computer. My sister was describing Facebook. My mom’s answer was “So now people do this instead of inviting someone over for a cup of coffee?”

I quit facebook a couple of years ago after using it for about a year. It just didn’t seem healthy(for me anyway)…in many ways. That was my experience. I have no plans of going back.

Some people are-I know of many of us though who set up coffee meetings through Facebook.

Precisely. I never have people telling me on Facebook that I am not a true Catholic because I wear tank tops in the summer, or that since I have tattoos I am somehow an evil rebel. lol

👍

You evil rebel!

I am convinced it because people on CAF don’t have to add a picture or say their real name-that changes everything. When you have your name and real life frieneds attached to what you say it changes your attitude.
