Should I fear judgement day? Because I have a HUGE fear. I also have a huge fear, I’ve accepted jesus as my saviour, but I still feel that I’m not good enough, and never will be:banghead:😊

If you have repented and received absolution for sins, then there is no need to fear for the past. There should be vigilance that all acts are charitable and that there be no sins of omission. This is not possible for man, without the help of the Most Holy Trinity.

Nobody is good enough that is why, for me, the most beautiful prayer during Mass is: “I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. Just say the word and my soul will be healed.”

This is taken from the words that the Centurion spoke to Jesus when he asked Jesus to heal his servant.

Trust in God’s mercy. Give mercy to others and to yourself. Ask for and be willing to receive God’s mercy. In some ways it is more difficult to accept His mercy than to ask for it.

You have “accepted Jesus as [your] savior”? (a phrase nor commonly heard in Catholic circles, which is the reason for the quotation marks, so my question follows below…)

Have you been baptized yet? Baptism erases sin and makes one “reborn as children of God”, according to canon 849 of the Code of Canon Law (of the Latin Church).

And if we sin after baptism, we have the sacrament of penace, in which we “obtain from God…forgiveness for …] sins” and “at the same time, are reconciled with the Church”, according to canon 959.

You should have no reason to fear if you are striving to live in conformity with the Gospel.

I have been baptised and raised in the Catholic church, sorry for my ignorance 😊

Hey Maddy,

God created you for Himself. Without Him, we can only separate ourselves from Him; all good desires proceed from the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Because He has given you this noble desire to seek Him, rest assured that He desires you still more. Any desire, however small, that we have for God is like a pledge of His tender love towards us.

An easy way to persevere in God’s grace is to pray the Rosary daily. Our Lady, who is your spiritual Mother, will render your trials relatively sweet and easy. This truth is taught by countless Saints, Doctors, Popes and mystics.

Another means of pleasing God is to often elevate your heart to God by little aspirations and little sacrifices. This is essentially the “little way” of St. Therese.

The only thing that can separate you from God is mortal sin. To avoid mortal sin, remember that God is your loving Father Who desires nothing but your happiness and eternal salvation. The more you come to know this, the more naturally you will cling to God, Who is always the first to embrace us.

If you fall, get up. God is plenteous in mercy to all who call upon Him, as the Scriptures say.

Here is an excellent book that I highly recommend you read:

Read St Faustina on Divine Mercy. Who among us could withstand God’s judgement were it not for His infinite Mercy? God knows fully our weaknesses and that we are but dust. He is compassionate, merciful and forgiving. He wants our salvation and will do everything possible on His part to help us attain it. We must trust in Him and cooperate with Him.

Live your life staying close to the Lord in the Mass, Rosary, Divine Mercy chaplet and frequent confession. Obey the commandments. Stay close to Our Lady in Her Rosary.

Then pray, hope and don’t worry as St Pio advised.👍

Oh, and get and wear a blessed Miraculous Medal and wear the scapular- get enrolled in it.

There is no need to apologize. I wasn’t baptized or raised Catholic. I was a Protestant until in my 30’s. As a child, I was taught to “accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.” Also, I was taught that when we sin, and then confess through prayer, that God would forgive. But I felt so much like a failure because I never “felt” forgiven. Even now I still struggle with depression among other things. This often causes me to worry about my salvation. But, in confession, I hear the words “Your sins are forgive.” Well, maybe not in those exact words, but that is the intent. So, stay strong, and whenever you feel the need, talk with your priest (when he can) or ask here.
