Should I fear judgement day? Because I have a HUGE fear. I also have a huge fear, I’ve accepted jesus as my saviour, but I still feel that I’m not good enough, and never will be:banghead:
If you have repented and received absolution for sins, then there is no need to fear for the past. There should be vigilance that all acts are charitable and that there be no sins of omission. This is not possible for man, without the help of the Most Holy Trinity.Should I fear judgement day? Because I have a HUGE fear. Nobody is good enough that is why, for me, the most beautiful prayer during Mass is: “I am not worthy that you should come under my roof. Just say the word and my soul will be healed.”Should I fear judgement day? Because I have a HUGE fear. You have “accepted Jesus as [your] savior”? (a phrase nor commonly heard in Catholic circles, which is the reason for the quotation marks, so my question follows below…)Should I fear judgement day? I have been baptised and raised in the Catholic church, sorry for my ignoranceYou have “accepted Jesus as [your] savior”? (a phrase nor commonly heard in Catholic circles, which is the reason for the quotation marks, so my question follows below…)
Have you been baptized yet? Baptism erases sin and makes one “reborn as children of God”, according to canon 849 of the Code of Canon Law (of the Latin Church).
And if we sin after baptism, we have the sacrament of penace, in which we “obtain from God…forgiveness for …] sins” and “at the same time, are reconciled with the Church”, according to canon 959.
You should have no reason to fear if you are striving to live in conformity with the Gospel.
There is no need to apologize. I wasn’t baptized or raised Catholic. I was a Protestant until in my 30’s. As a child, I was taught to “accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior.” Also, I was taught that when we sin, and then confess through prayer, that God would forgive. But I felt so much like a failure because I never “felt” forgiven. Even now I still struggle with depression among other things. This often causes me to worry about my salvation. But, in confession, I hear the words “Your sins are forgive.” Well, maybe not in those exact words, but that is the intent. So, stay strong, and whenever you feel the need, talk with your priest (when he can) or ask here.I have been baptised and raised in the Catholic church, sorry for my ignorance![]()
