I personally observed the annunciation in my prayers and at Mass today. Although its a moveable feast, I still like to observe this feast day on this date.

I don’t think there is a rule against celebrating it on March 25th, but the annunciation falls on April 8th this year so I think people are supposed to do something on at least one of those days. 🤷

No feasts may be celebrated during Holy Week. That’s why it was moved.

I propose, since the annunciation is 9 months before the birth of the Saviour, that we celebrate Christmas on January 8 this liturgical year.

That would mess up the ‘Secular Christmas crowd’. And we could celebrate it without watching ‘the Christmas Carol’ or ‘the Santa Clause’ all day.

I think that the Latin Church is going for the 38 week pregnancy.

Actually, if one really wants to be a stick in the mud about this, the Annunciation should not fall on March 25. If one counts back 40 weeks from December 25, I bet you that the date of conception is not March 25th. Moving it 14 days is not going to do any harm.

Just to further (humourously!) confuse things… I had a 43 week (minus a day) pregnancy. 😃
