Ann Arbor, Mich., Mar 9, 2010 (CNA/EWTN News).- In February, the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist made an appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Since then, almost all the feedback the sisters have received has been overwhelmingly positive the sister’s mission director told CNA/EWTN.

After the show, the number of young women registered for the sisters’ February discernment retreat jumped from 70 to 135. The community has also received many emails from new and old supporters, both before and after the show, sharing their excitement. “Probably our favorite feedback, though, comes in the form of stories we’ve heard, both directly and indirectly, from individuals who have been away from the practice of their Catholic faith, but were encouraged by the joy of our sisters to consider returning to the faith,” explained Sister Maria Guadalupe. “These potential conversions are very precious to us, and we continue to pray for all who have encountered us through this show.”

I am so thankful for the way that Oprah handled that show! I hope the sisters had an influence no her, as well. May God bless her and lead her to the Church. :gopray:
 
Wonderful! I’m so glad it was such a positive experience for them - I know that I really enjoyed the segment, and am actually impressed that Oprah did such a good job with the topic.

I read the comments posted on Oprah’s site about the show, 190 plus. I thought that a majority were positive. I didn’t see the show but from the comments the honesty and openness of the nuns certainly made a positive impression on people.
