Thanks for all the helpful advice - I’ve been persevering for the past few days and there truly is something quite beautiful in it that I’ve only just begun to grasp. I am really feeling love for Mary that has quite surprised me.
You know, I say the rosary almost every day and have done so for 5-10 years. I have never once made it all the way through without drifting to other thoughts. Sometimes those thoughts are quite inspirational and sometimes, they are purely distractions.

There are times when I feel connected to Mary and Jesus and other times, I struggle to get through it. On those tough days, I think of the prayers as penitential.

Prayer is communicating with God. Perseverance in prayer is a sure sign of love of God so you are in effect communicating your love through your perseverance. I think if you can complete the prayers on the toughest days, then thats probably more satisfying to God then when it comes easy.

I can’t think of a better aid in helping those struggling and also for those wanting to add the scripture element. I’ve had this for many, many years and use it daily! This is also sold on Amazon. Next to the Mass, the rosary is one of the most beautiful and rewarding prayers. From the CCC;
**** II. DEVOTION TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN
971 “All generations will call me blessed”: "The Church’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship."515 The Church rightly honors "the Blessed Virgin with special devotion. From the most ancient times the Blessed Virgin has been honored with the title of ‘Mother of God,’ to whose protection the faithful fly in all their dangers and needs. . . . This very special devotion . . . differs essentially from the adoration which is given to the incarnate Word and equally to the Father and the Holy Spirit, and greatly fosters this adoration."516 The liturgical feasts dedicated to the Mother of God and Marian prayer, such as the rosary, an “epitome of the whole Gospel,” express this devotion to the Virgin Mary***.517
