Do you think it makes a difference later in life for them if they are raised in a active faithful household? Do you think the retention rate is affected?
Would be interesting to see some statistics on child retention of parental faith, for Catholics and others. The most recent such numbers I can find are from 2011 and it was 32% of those raised Catholic in the US leave. Which was one of the lower loss rates among the major Christian faiths, but still not particularly great. Retention in say the UK is worse with only about 50% remaining Catholic who were so raised.

The challenge with those statistics is that in the UK I think it just means at least monthy attendance. I’m sure if I posted on here that I was only attending mass monthly people would have a lot to say 😃

That may be true. The US numbers were self identifying, not attending. So many of the retained 68% of self identifying Catholics may not actually be practicing. I mean my parents would likely list themselves as Catholic if you asked them in a poll, but the last time they went to church was 10 months ago, and it was my Episcopalian parish for my daughter’s baptism. I don’t think they’d even remember the last time they went to a Catholic Church. And I doubt my parents are alone in that.

God the Father is the perfect parent, and yet look what happened with Adam and Eve!

One of mine is agnostic. He also has Aspergers which may be part of that. But although I know I made mistakes, wasting time on blame does no good. I pray to St. Monica and live out my faith.
