Feeling modest when your body isn't "modest"

I think, deep within us, we all know what just looks right and what doesn’t. To me, looking grossly indecent just isn’t even attractive, not only to other girls but to guys as well.
The main difficulty, I think, is that for those of us who grew up in an abnormal or somewhat isolated environment, what looks indecent can be what most people would consider perfectly normal attire.

One example I’ve used - we had a modesty show where we were supposed to look at various items of clothing and point out how they could be considered immodest. One example was an empire waist dress with a line of ribbon around the waistline. Perfectly appropriate coverage, but because there was a line of ribbon under the woman’s bust it was considered immodest. The ribbon, supposedly, would draw a man’s eyes away from the woman’s face and towards her chest. (I’m somewhat ashamed to say I was the clever student who “caught” that immodesty!)

My personal style can be either called modest or immodest (fitted shirts, skinny jeans, low neckline without cleavage). It’s definitely confusing for me. I’m called a prude at school but then I’m called inappropriate in church
