Fr. Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R. of blessed memory, was Franciscan Friar, Priest and clinical psychologist. He had much to say about depression. You may very well benefit from his book Arise from Darkness.
Depression distorts our thinking. It can be addressed, but many times even the work to address it can seem daunting. In addition to a priest or others in the Church, see your physician.
I suffered a crippling depression about 5 years ago. Just seeing my physician and talking about started the fog lifting.
Depression makes us feel helpless and besieged. Feeling helpless leads to anxiety (for me anyway). Crippling anxiety leads to depression. Repeat.
Take a small step and you may rediscover a sense of agency. Don’t put it off. One day you will look back and say “why did I wait so long to talk to so and so”.
