Female Cardinals in the RCC's future?

This isn’t true. The Church has never ordained women Deaconesses. They were certainly called “Deaconesses” but their only function was to prepare women for Baptism since it involved the changing of clothes. There was no ordination.
Ah! I didn’t realize there was a distinction. Thank you for that.
 
My first reaction was: female cardinals are the brown ones, the males are red.
 
1)Theologically it is possible. Even Cardinal Dolan spoke to this not too long ago.

2)Pope is not bound by canon law. This is a tough one for Americans to grasph

And also that baptism was sometimes performed nude ;).
