Female chaplain made false rape claim against Catholic priest after their relationship ended
A female chaplain at a Roman Catholic college narrowly avoided jail last night after she admitted falsely accusing a parish priest of rape when he ended their affair.

Father Patrick Udoma lost his job and his home and his life was ‘completely devastated’ when Emma Templeton, 44, lied to police that she had been seriously sexually assaulted by him, a court heard.

The 45-year-old suffered the humiliation of being arrested by police at his church while conducting a funeral, had his home searched, mobile phone confiscated and was locked up for 23 hours in a cell and questioned.

I feel sorry for the people whose funeral was interrupted. Both of these people should be ashamed of themselves.

It’s really sad considering all the sex scandal against priests around the world and priest have to put up with (“wrongly”) being accused. Given the entire scope of the global sex scandals against the Church Clergy one really needs to see the bigger picture where most priests become innocent victims. But of course it takes ((“Real Eyes”)) to see this truth.

I remember reading a short story about a priest at an airport waiting for his flight to another city. Off in a short distance was a little girl with her Mommy at the ticket agent and the little girl smiling at the priest wearing his collar. When the mother looked back at who her little child was smiling at she gave the priest a dirty look. How often does this happen today when so many priest are looked down upon and categorically biased?

It truly is sad. Our priest’s need our warm respected and cordial support.

Peace
Chris

Would that have been Father Corapi that was at the airport? It seems I might have heard that from one of his sermons… or perhaps he was just telling this same story?

As for the news article, all I can do is shake my head and sigh, both were in the wrong and once again, the Church pays for it.

Well, this is part of the devilry that at times seems to be methodically going on in our society. A mother is of course worried for her child, but it is also allowed to think and use common sense.

Deliberatly trying to make a priest look bad is just sad and very disturbing.

I believe your correct, it was Father Corapi.

This is what bothered me about the article when I read it the other day:
Despite Father Udoma insisting that the pair had enjoyed a consensual relationship, officers refused to accept his protestations of innocence.
Father Udoma was arrested and, under questioning, admitted he had engaged in consensual sex with Templeton on two occasions but said their relationship was over.
(article is here if you don’t want to scroll back to top)

I am not in any way making excuses for the evil thing that she did. But they apparently did have a relationship that involved sex.
It is understood Father Udoma has since been reinstated in a different parish.
So I am assuming that he has been absolved of his sin…
