So, does the Holy Spirit proceed from the Father through the Son, or from the Father and from the Son? Which does the Church teach, I don’t care about your opinion on the matter.
I believe they are supposed to mean the same thing. It has been said the Filioque issue was one of semantics/translation over actual doctrinal difficulties.
what does the creed say? otherwise theres a long history about understanding the filioque issue and your gonna start getting opinions and diverse understandings . Much involved in the subject.
It simply says " I believe in the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son" It doesn’t seem to specify which belief it stands by, and someone recently said one is heresy, and one is not, so as far as i am aware, it cannot be both. That is that, the Holy Spirit proceeding from both the Father and from the Son, and proceeding from the Father through the Son.
