Finally, catholic answers comes clean and elicits support against mormonism publically on its homepage and also on this link:

shop.catholic.com/online-store/scstore/c-Mormonism_Special_Report_Project.html?E+scstore

Now I know that if a mormon site would have done this, many of the catholics on this board would have freaked out. :bigyikes:

Maybe I should take some credit for this now wide publicity since my thread was viewed by many people on this forum. Should I demand a cut of the take?

:hug1: :hug3: :grouphug: <<<Where is the love? :tsktsk:

You just need to come clean that you are a Mormon troll.

I’m not sure I understand what’s so appalling? Of course Catholics are going to be concerned about the Mormon doctrine and it’s possible appeal to the unlearned Catholic, just as the Mormon would be concerned of the Catholic appeal to his fellow Mormon. Are you saying that Mormons are not teaching their own about the ‘errors’ of Catholicism (and I’m being generous here  ) and how to avoid us?

Why the alarm? We all want to protect our own, especially if we really believe we hold the truth. Sounds logical and reasonable and to think otherwise is, well, silly.🙂

Catholic Answers has done the right thing.

Mormons reject scripture even if they claim they don’t and they also reject The Apostles Creed, The Nicenne Creed, The Athansian Creed and 2000 years of Church History.

They believe a gnostic pagan religion that on a closer inspection does not even resemble Christianity, simple as that.

The purpose of the report seems to be to educate Catholics. Unless you’ve seen what’s in the report, how do you know that the information is wrong? If the report is accurate, how can it be anti-anything.

It’s anti-Catholic to say (when you’ve been told different, and have had every opportunity to educate yourself) that Catholics worship Mary. In this case, the person is intentionally repeating a lie, and the goal is to discredit the Catholic Church.

It’s not anti-Catholic to say that Catholics venerate Mary.

Do you know what the Mormonism report contains? If it’s factual information, I can’t see how it’s anti-LDS.

I think that the language of the “come on”–and I do think that’s what it is–is provacative. They’re trying to worry people into sending money so they can find out what’s so controversial and scary about LDS. Insurance salesmen and alarm systems salespeople use the same tactic.

I won’t buy anything that’s promoted on the fear factor.

And the LDS made some wonderful commercials about family life. I think the sales team on the Mormon report needs a lesson from the LDS sales staff. 🙂 Do you think it’s a coincidence that the commercials (just about all that most people know about the LDS) were about family, and the report ad asks you to question the LDS reputation as good family people?

If this were politics, we would call this a negative ad. 🙂

Still, we don’t know what’s in the report. I disagree with the tactic used in the sales pitch, but until I read the report and check its facts, I can’t say that it’s anti-LDS in the same way that anti-Catholic speech and print I’ve experienced is.

Well for 35 dollars, you can read all about it. 🙂

Mormonism Special Report Project
Mormonism Special Report Project - $35 Donation
Tax-Deductible

MISSION STATEMENT

Catholic Answers is a non-profit, lay-run apostolate dedicated to serving Christ by bringing the fullness of Catholic truth to the world. We help good Catholics become better Catholics, bring former Catholics “home,” and lead non-Catholics into the fullness of the faith. We explain Catholic truth, equip the faithful to live fully the sacramental life, and assist them in spreading the Good News.
With our new special report on Mormonism, we believe we can “inoculate” Catholics from the falsehoods, half-truths, and twisted history presented by the well-intentioned but sorely misled Mormon faithful.

That’s why I’m hoping you’ll be able to send us a special gift of $35 or more to get this project off the ground.

In return for your gift, we’ll send you a set of these special reports to distribute to your friends, family, and Mormon acquaintances.

For $35, we’ll send you 5 copies of our special report.
For $75, we’ll send you 10 copies.
And for $150 or more, we’ll send you 15 copies.
This way, you can be directly involved in this project. First, with your donation, by helping us get tens of thousands of copies distributed nationwide, where they’re needed most. And second, by doing your own distribution in your local area.

Think the Mormons are just a group of nice folks who uphold family values, clean living, and American patriotism?
Think the Mormons are just a strange offshoot of Protestant Christianity?
Think Mormons are actually Christian?
Think again!

The truth is, Mormonism is far different from what most people think it is.
This is just one of the many projects that can be continued only if we receive generous support from people like you.

Thank you for your generous donation that will help continue the apostolic work of Catholic Answers.

Group hug? :grouphug:

Good for CA. I’ll probably send them their requested donation, so they can keep doing the good work.

Mormonism is falsehood, halftruths and twisted history. That’s what Mormonism is and that’s why it was right for Catholic Answers to say it.

Offshoot of Protestantism?

No way!

Offshoot of Freemasonry.

American Patriotism?

Do you think when they call the rest of Americans gentiles they are being complimenatary?

The Bible says “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness but rather expose them.”

Mormonism is of the fruitless deeds of darkness, how ever nice, respectable and clean it looks.

mormons have almost 50,000 full time missionaries going door to door telling people that all other churches are apostate and they need to give 10% of their income to the mormon church to build up the kingdom of God on earth. how is that so different? I think you overestimate your effect. about 4 of your buddies from the LDS boards have come over here in response to your call for help over there to try and spread their message. I don’t see much result. Zerinus seems to contradict them as much as we do so I don’t think you’ll be getting many converts here. maybe you’ll quit playing Catholic though and start being a real catholic. I pray for that.👍

Why are you so surprised? CA is a Catholic site aimed at spreading the truth.
I support CA.

Why get so aggitated over what CA is doing? 👍

BANG!

Zakusa wondered off wounded after having his arguments blown apart Zerinus is getting in a muddle and losing the argument spectacularly. 👍

I don’t mind Mormons coming by here, it gives us the opertunity to systematically destroy their outragous beliefs. 👍

Yeah, if those pesky trolls weren’t here, nobody would believe those of us who have been hurt by LDS. They only brought it on themselves. :hypno: Then they complain that CA took action spontaneously. Thank you, WM, Tom, and the Z’s, and all the others. You only reinforced what we had to say. :knight1: :knight2:

Dumb question, but I am always subject to ask them. Is there any information in the CA book that is incorrect? I see a lot of banter on here, but are the fact wrong?

Zakuska is busy on mormonapologetics. Perhaps I will notify him to come on over again. But Z will return. He has some good arguments to keep you guys honest. 🙂

Now come home to the real Jesus.

Just want to make it 152% clear that I am NOT one of ***those  ***“Z’s”!!!

I have not seen the book in question, but I am familiar with CA’s other tracts on Mormons, and I have not seen a falsehood in them. The problem that the Mormons here have is that they do not like having their bizarre beliefs exposed. Their rationale is “milk before meat,” meaning that non-Mormons are to be given shallow, feel-good answers about their religion until they join. Once they get their targets baptised and in the fold, they’ll start laying on the “meat” (the weird stuff.) The weird material is considered “sacred” (which translates to “secret”) and, according to the Mormons, anyone who puts it out there for the world to see is “anti-Mormon.”

Me, I distrust any religion that attempts to hide their beliefs from the public. It is gnosticism, and it is dishonest at best and evil at worst.

Any religion on this earth of ours can be made to look foolish and I would include the catholic faith too. No religion is immune to be looking foolish.

But to openly attempt to discredit a faith is not very good. First, if all christian faiths would practice bashing, there would not be a christ like bone in anyone’s body. Second, it does not create a harmonious world, just the opposite. And third, it is not holy.

But it is crusade like and we all know what happened in the crusades…not much.

If you want to end the “bashing” as you call it, quit trying to defend the indefensible idea that the Book of Mormon is a real ancient history dealing with real people in the Americas. If you want to see it as an inspired myth like many in the Community of Christ do I would have more respect for your position.
