Hi, Beka!

Have you thought of talking to a priest online to acclimate you to talking to clergy? If so, I know one who has a website I would be glad to send to you. Just PM me if you are interested.

Are you attending Mass on base? I would recommend that you go to an actual church for the first few times. The post chapels tend to be sterile and set up in a non-denominational manner (because all faiths need to use that space) and there is little time for fellowship after Mass.

Please come back and let us know your impressions. I will pray for you and ask that you remember CAF in your prayers.

First i would like to say thank you to all who have posted and supported me. It has really touched my heart that you all would have such kind and guiding words. I did Pray last night before I went to bed and again early this morning before I went to my first Mass. I prayed at the doors of the church before entering. I am so happy I went as I had absolutely no problem sitting through the Mass it did not bring any bad memories to me or any anxiety. I really did feel at ease and it did bring a few tears happy tears to my eyes because I could feel the lord with me protecting me . Thank you all so very much for encouraging me and supporting me in this crusade. I am convinced more than ever that this is the right path for me and can breathe a deep sigh of relief for finally having found a place. And no I did not go to the base chapel I did go to civilian church with my friends 15 year old daughter who is catholic. I will probably continue to attend mass at this church. Again thank you so much

Thank you all yes I will continue to post and stay in touch here as I continue. the church is about an hour and half away from me. we are at the bottom of NM and the church is in El Paso TX. It is called The Holy Trinity Catholic Church. the problem I am facing is the conversion classes and being able to get to the church for those. we drive down every weekend so mass isn’t a big deal but the classes might be I am gonna call and talk to someone there about it.

You most defenately want to talk to the priest as he maybe willing to give intrustion on Sunday after Mass.

thanks so much I am gonna call tomorrow morning when the office opens

I just wanto give some background and ask a question. I was raised in a non denominational christian cult. It almost destroyed my family and left me with deep deep wounds. I became pagan to get away from the pain but there was always something missing in my heart so I left that path. recently I have moved states and have had several signs and calling directing me towards catholicsm. The main problem I have now is that everytime I go into a church I am flooded with the pain from the past and have anxiety attacks and always leave in tears. I have read the catechism and pray everyday according to the catholic faith and feel god with me. I am afraid to speak with a priest or go to mass for fear that the same anxiety will over take me. It scares every part of me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m sorry that all this happened to you :hug1:
Try to remember that whatever it was that traumatized you in the past, didn’t come from God, and God is completely different. And He’s present in every Catholic church, in the Tabernacle. 🙂

I also suggest speaking to a priest…

God bless you 🙂

I must say that things regarding catholicism seem to just flow without pain. I am meeting with a priest here in my area tomorrow and hopefully there after will be beginning the conversion process. I can still feel the pain of what happened but am looking towards god for healing I am sure its a long process but one I feel confident in.

Aloha Bekamom

I’m sorry for assuming you were in Albu. I just had Kirkland AFB on the brain.😊

Anyway, your moving right along in the Church & good for you! 👍 We’re very happy to see you will be keeping us informed on you journey. The Holy Spirit sure has plans for you.

God bless you!

Good to hear that everything seems to be going well for you.

I’d imagine Catholic Mass is probably different in a lot of ways from how you would’ve worshipped in the cult. And your relationship to the priest is probably quite different to that you would’ve had with the cult leaders as well. Those differences probably help.

Keep up the prayer, of course, it’s surely helping too!

Yes it is completely different I think that really does help your right.

I went to see a priest today and it went very well I will be starting RCIA classes in october. and will have regular counselling sessions with him. I think it will turn out well.
