The LDS video was geared towards a specific group of people; those who were searching for a meaning and purpose to their lives; or those who had not yet thought about that, but were capable of being provoked to do so. It is when you begin to ask those kinds of questions that the message of the LDS Church becomes the most attractive message around.

The attractiveness of a message doesn’t seem to be a fair indicator of it’s truth. Sure, it would be pretty sweet to become a God, but I have the humility to understand that I can never become greater than God my Father.

Those who were susceptible to a slick sales pitch.

The message of the LDS Church becomes the most attractive message around.

If you have completely suspended your thought processes and rely on sheer emotionalism. Or you are such a loser that you cannot get the dog to play with you.

Z:

YouTube now says that the video is no longer available.

Was it copyrighted by Bonneville or the Intellectual Reserve by chance?
It is still avilable. That is a glitch in YouTube. I have occasionally encountered that message myself, and then discovered it was a false alarm. YouTube seems to occasionally throw up that message when there is too much pressure on its bandwidth, or when a video is just uploaded, and it has not yet been properly setup.

I didn’t leave the LDS church to join the Catholic Church. These two events happened independent of each other.

I left the LDS church once I studied its history (along with early Christian history). I admit that I’m no buff when it comes to apostolic history, nonetheless I’d bet I know more than the average Mormon (or even the average “Catholic” for that matter).
Okay; so what was there about Christian or LDS history that made you leave the LDS Church?
I spent a year or so bouncing from one church to the next trying to find a “good fit”. Finally gave up on the endeavor, and even flirted with the idea that God didn’t exist at all.
Finally, and very reluctantly, at the request of my then-current girlfriend, I attended Mass with her. The experience was breathtaking. The devotion payed to the Eucharist assured me that this was THE Apostolic church that I had read about in books.
To think, had it not been for my anti-Catholic upbringing (not necessarily LDS induced), I may have come to the realization earlier that what I had been searching for was right under my nose the entire time!
I agree that compared to the welter of weird or fanatical Protestant churches in the US, the Catholic Church may be the most attractive one around; but compared to LDS, it don’t even come close! 🙂

By the way, I just read your profile; you have an interesting background.

Technically, a Mormon can never become greater than God the Father, but may someday become equal to what he is now. In Mormon cosmology, the Father will always be part of your “upline” - as you get glory, some of it goes to him. Because heavenly father got started in the God business before you did and has a bigger downline than you will ever have, you will never catch up to him in glory. But you would always have more glory than your “downline” who will give glory to you, because you got started before they did.

It really is spiritual AmWay.

Eh… I obviously beg to differ, though it seems you understood my point well, that being immersed in Anti-Catholic (anti-everything!) Evangelical-Christianity, I never gave Catholicism a good chance.

I’m still reading your website (concerning the apostasy). Very interesting! I notice you raise a few points that FARMS and Jeff Lindsay have yet to do (kudos to you!).

I have 6 papers dues by the end of the week, so expect my “rebuttal” in about two weeks (sorry for the delay, you know, school gets the best of me).

There is a Mormon (LDS) church here in my country. I noticed that it does not have a cross at the top of the steeple. I have never entered the Mormon church (as i was told only the “interested” are allowed to enter its doors), but i did manage to have a glimpse of whats inside. There was a painting of the last supper but the image of Jesus was unlike what you find in Orthodox or Catholic churches. Very modern looking Jesus indeed.

As for the video, i’ll have a look into it later. The comments posted here has got me intrigued.

Of course not! Any visitor is welcome to enter our Church. In any case, if you were not “intrested,” why would you want to go in there anyway—unless you were accompanying someone?

Why, was He using a cell phone?

Perhaps because the LDS church here targets mostly wealthy people?

I don’t know. He (Mormon jesus) could be. Perhaps trying to reach out to a Mr. Smith? Remind me to bring along a magnifying glass next time. 🤓
