First ever black hole image released

The black hole is 500 million trillion km away and was photographed by a network of eight telescopes across the world.
I’m curious on how they composed the data from these scopes and what wavelengths the scopes used.

It’s times like this I wish I had a more mathematical brain, so I could understand more of the science. Space utterly fascinates me!

Today is the day if you want to “see” a black hole! Read the entire linked story…
Amazing and mind blowing are my words for all this. Who would have known our
“Milky Way” is also a black hole with its own mysterious features!

What an Awesome God we have!

I don’t understand this response. Could you explain?
Sorry, I know potty humor isn’t for everyone. It was a reference to sphincters and the flaming gas that may or may not surround them.

Take a gander, but don’t lean in too close …

Am I the only one that thought it look s like a chocolate donut?

It looks to me astonishingly like a sort of, I don’t know, a sort of black hole.

I found these two videos that give a very detailed description of the theory behind this photo. The first one is as prediction of what it would look like, posted just before the actual photo was made public (and so it is a bit dry and sciency) and the second one was posted just after. I recommend watching both of them if this subject interests you.

Is our “knowledge” of Black Holes obtained via The Scientific Method ?
I believe the earliest hypothesis on black holes came from Albert Einstein. There is a video above by Vox on how data was collected through coordinated observation using radio telescopes for the images and other observations from black holes.
