What was the first Holy Card you received? Who did you receive it from? Was it on a special occasion?
I’m not sure if this counts or not, but my first Holy Card was the Act of Contrition. My Great Aunt, who is helping me with my discernment of the religious life, gave it to me a few days after my Priest told her I came and talked to him about being called to the religious life. Along with the card, she also gave me a small book about Guardian Angels and a book about the Rosary/Mysteries. To me, it was a special occasion, because it not only made our Catholic faith stronger, it also made us stronger as family. What was the first Holy Card you received? Who did you receive it from? I was 5 years old when my grandmother gave me a Holy Card of the Blessed Mother with the prayer on back of Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue. Grandma taught me the prayer, and told me to say it every day. I still have the card. I keep it in my Devine Office and say the pray every day. What was the first Holy Card you received? Who did you receive it from? Was it on a special occasion?
Takes me back to 1966, it was Mary, and very beautiful, but that is all I remember. What was the first Holy Card you received?
One of the nuns at school, can’t remember which one though.Who did you receive it from?
Not that I can recall. Was it on a special occasion?
Somewhat off topic, but, tawny, when I read “Grandma taught me the prayer” - I was reminded of an incident over the Christmas holidays. I had been teaching my granddaughter to use her fingers to pray the 5 Finger Prayer (as her prayers tended to be a rambling, “thank you for mummy, thank you for the ceiling, thank you for granny’s eyes, thank you for the cupboard…” - for however long she felt she could ramble and delay bedtime). So she tells her parents that, “Granny has been teaching me to pray like this” holding up her hand with the middle finger extended.I was 5 years old when my grandmother gave me a Holy Card of the Blessed Mother with the prayer on back of Lovely Lady Dressed in Blue.
