Not at all, they are accused of booing the 1st and 2nd ladies of the US, who were there promoting a worthy cause.

Simple,

John
I’m confused by your response. It wasn’t in poor taste for them to be booed, or it wasn’t in poor taste to boo a president leaving office at an inauguration ceremony? It seems to me that both were in poor taste. 🤷

I have more respect for you than to believe you are actually confused.

John

She’s not being disrespectful and she doesn’t have a political presence.
Of course she does. She is regularly on the campaign trail and in campaign advertisements promoting her husband’s reelection. That is a political presence.

Well, the point was made that they are accused of the “same poor taste,” but you claim there is no equivalence. Was booing President Bush okay in your mind, or was it poor taste? Based on your post, I would have to assume you believe the former, but I have more respect for you than to assume that. Perhaps, you can clarify your response?

Booing of political wives on a worthy mission is reprehensible…booing an exiting president is low-class.

Good enough?

John

Sure, John. I see them as equally reprehensible and low class. Also, I would argue that seeing the event as purely a “worthy mission” and not a campaign event is naïveté on the part of many, many people.

The Obama administration “represents” Abortion, Anti-Catholicism and rights for sodomites. Respect for what she represents?
Absolutely. But she IS the wife of the President of the US. Like it or not. If one cannot respect the person, then respect the office of President. One does not have to agree with anything the President believes to at least shows some common respect. Without nasty name-calling. And she IS the wife of that President

But yes, the President represents all of that. The oofice of President goes above that, though.

The president isn’t king.

A King and Queen, and dukes deserve deference.

A president is one of us, and so he does not get the usual deference of an official. He has to gain respect just like everyone else does.

Yeah, I see them as pretty equivalent and pretty low-class.

If the wife of the president chose to remain in the background, doing charity work and such, then, yes, the booing would be reprehensible.

On the other hand, if the wife of the president chose to lecture the people on their eating habits [while her husband snuck out every chance he got to scarf up a bunch of big Macs] and berated the country by saying she was never proud until her husband ran for president … then she is injecting herself into the political arena … as another Democrat once said, "If you can’t stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen."

If the wife of the president goes on vacation with a Boeing 757 and four hours later, her husband joins here with his 747, in the fact of terrible economic times … then her insensitivity suggests … that she is insensitive to the financial plight and needs of the people. She is not the wife of the dictator.

Some people get all the respect they deserve.

Continuing protracted and pointless wars, sacrificing the lives of people on which you place no value is EXTREMELY low class.

People expressed an opinion of the job the current administration is doing.

What is wrong with that?🤷

Are these we going to speak out if the response was cheers instead?

Are we only allowed to voice positive opinions?

**I’ve been told before, on his forum, that I should think for myself, and question my beliefs. Be intelligent. Don’t follow blindly. So shouldn’t I question why I should not boo Michelle? I question the belief that the President, or First Lady, should be respected. The Presidency is a respectable office. I feel the Obamas have disrespected it. They have disrespected the American public. They have disrespected me. **
