Today, I attended a Latin Mass for the first time. It was absolutely incredible, and so moving. I was afraid I would not be able to follow along or understand what was going on, but I really did, even at times when I didn’t have a missal to follow along with. One thing I really noticed is how similarly written the Novus Ordo and the Tridentine Mass are. I have seen some reverent Novus Ordo Masses before, but this Tridentine Mass just blew all of that out of the water. I absolutely LOVED kneeling to receive Communion. I was actually nervous, as though it was my first time receiving; I had never felt this way before. I loved seeing all the other women veiled, I loved that there were teenage girls there, dressed modernly but modestly, with their heads covered. It was a true testament to being “in and not of” the world.

That clinches it for me; I am a Traditional Catholic! I am hoping to convince the Pastor that he should offer the Tridentine Mass at our Parish. 🙂

We are having our first Tridentine Mass the first week of Advent at my church. I am so excited!

Hey Tedster!!! That first pic is my priest at my parish!!! :D:thumbsup:

savienu - the Tridentine Mass truly is a thing of beauty. So glad you have a wonderful experience!!

Awesome Savienu! :highprayer:

Tedster, those pics are beautiful indeed. Wow.

Tedster the bottom pic and possible the middle one are pictures of OF Masses celebrated as they should be. Ad apsendium/orientem. Beautiful nonetheless.

No, not “eye candy”. All for Jesus.🙂
See this gets me - a common criticism of the Pauline Mass is that it’s all about ‘entertainment’ or some such - and then plenty of you use terms like ‘eye-candy’ or otherwise describe the Extraordinary Form in ways which makes it clear that you are taken by the aesthetic and/or performance aspects of THAT form.

See I don’t think there’s anything at all wrong with EITHER form trying to be aesthetically or sensually appealing - since we are all capable of being lifted to God through our senses.

And to deride Pauline Mass priests as ‘showmen’ when many EF priests just as clearly revel (in the same good and positive way) in the same aesthetic and performance aspects of EF Masses - just strikes me as bizarre. In BOTH forms it is JUST AS MUCH ‘all for Jesus’, ultimately, as you put it.

All for Jesus.🙂 But yes, it is beautiful–but for Jesus.
