We will know soon enough if this is Constitutional.
That’s part of the problem pnewton. We WON’T know SOON.

And people who think like you, will not be helping citizens work to have their rights preserved and restored.

How 'bout voting pnewton?

President Obama back in 2012 (if I recall correctly) said to 60 Minutes that “ideas” are stronger than guns.

And I think he was right on that.

Should people who need help with their accounting have their VOTING RIGHTS removed too? (Because that is a reflection of their IDEAS)

Or should we just remove the rights of citizens that YOU think?

Scare quotes (also called shudder quotes,[1][2] sneer quotes,[3] and quibble marks) . . . .
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, why not answer the issues I have raised instead of pretending laws that “Infringe” upon the law-abiding citizenry do NOT “infringe” upon the good law-abiding citizenry?

“Stand your ground” applies outside the home. “Castle doctrine” is when you defend your own home.
Thanks for the correction.

Both were inspired by overzealous prosecution.

If you find the thread to which you refer, it is likely you may find my post.
I found NONE of your posts defending the citizen in this context pnewton.

"No more results found."

But I am STILL OK with this. Maybe I could try some other search protocol phrases.

Assuming I am wrong, why not take the opportunity RIGHT NOW on this post to tell me how you assert the Government HAS ABUSED such power. How great citizens who needed help with their accounting being LABELED as “mentally ill” was an abomination and misuse of Government power and hurts citizen trust in Government officials (and thus hurts the country).

And HOW you condemn Obama’s decision to ABUSE his power in such a manner as an “executive order” bypassing Congress (in addition to IGNORING the Constitution).

Why not take the time right here and now to ALSO reassure me how anything like this will never happen again and WHY that is so.

I looked up the first one. My first post on that thread was #162.
I do not believe unilateral presidential fiats born of ignorance and reactionary politics meet any criteria of “sensible”. Being sensible would involve more that one side of this issue pandering. Being sensible will take months if any change is to be weighed in the light of reason by all sides of the debate.

This is exactly why the president doesn’t need to be legislating from the White House.

pnewton . . .
This is exactly why the president doesn’t need to be legislating from the White House.
But I didn’t ask if the President “NEEDS” to legislate from the White House.

I basically asked you to condemn ex-President Obama re-defining “mental illness” with the stroke of a pen.

And if this was an ABUSE of his Governmental POWER.

And if it IS an abuse, I am going to ask you WHY you would want to give a political office holder MORE POWER?

Especially when the Fathers WARNED us against this Government superpower over its citizens mindset.

And the proverbial “darned if you do, and darned if you don’t” accusation of my points is not persuasive pnewton.

Why?

Because this does not apply to ALL police, or ALL Government officials and politicians, judges, etc.

My point is there are abuses and failures.

And YOU bring out abuses and failures by CITIZENS.

Is it not reasonable that I do the same concerning ALL the checks and balances aspects of Government??

I love our system of Government. Which is exactly WHY I attempt to defend it.

But remember, our Government includes PROTECTIONS for the CITIZENS too.

And not just protections that are ONLY fashionable to the liberal mindset.

I have not seen ANY arguments for trampling ANY Amendments On Any Of These For Forums Including The Second Amendment.

I once watched Wayne La Pierre (NRA) debate a UN gun grabber years ago (she was another gun-grabber who had no good arguments), but I recall coming away from the debate absolutely floored not on her distain for our Second Amendment (I expected that).

I was extremely surprised at how ANGRY she was concerning America’s FIRST Amendment.

She was not a good thinker either. She accused La Pierre of “watching too many movies” (La Pierre never mentioned any movies) then later in the debate SHE appealed to Crocodile Dundee (!) to make HER point (she was from Australia). I’m not making this up.

(Can you imagine if Second Amendment advocates appealed to the Lone Ranger to keep our rights??!! . . . .

. . . . But her liberal supporters never called her out on that in follow up discussions at least that I saw.)

Americans must be politically vigilant concerning ALL their rights, not milquetoast.

I am not going to re-open that thread here. My only point was to note that I did reply to that topic you said I didn’t. I never found misdirection, where the theme of, “Well what about…,” useful, logical, or intelligent. I do not speak of analogy, something we learn as we grow. I speak of that tool from our childhood, that pointed at what others got, what others did, as an excuse.

This thread is about the Florida gun bill, not Clinton, immigration, or Obama. The thread in question is five years old. I am not going to re-open it here.

Am I the only one here who has read the rules?

Has anyone ever told you that you are too controlling?

I will write my posts. You write yours.

I asked pnewton WHY gun-grabbers attempt to inveigle (fool) fellow citizens as to them affirming Constitutional Rights, especially Second Amendment Rights (when their “actions” say they DON’T despite their “words” saying they do?

They often recoil at “Trump” so I thought I would ask the obvious question.

WHY do you want to give “Trump” MORE power (because it seems the answer for this kind of thinking is always the same . . . . MORE Government, MORE Programs, MORE Taxes, MORE Bloating of Govrrnment, etc. etc.)

I’ve heard this same “solution” since I was a kid in the 60’s.

Pnewtons response?

To attempt to deflect about that “the president doesn’t NEED to be legislating”.

Here is the exact quote . . .

pnewton . . .
This is exactly why the president doesn’t NEED to be legislating from the White House. (Emphasis mine)
Then I pointed out I didn’t ask this and asked some other questions about NOT merely the POSSIBILITY of Government ABUSE against it’s law-abiding citizens, but the REALITY of POWER ABUSE THAT OCCURRED RECENTLY concerning ignoring The Second Amendment . . .

Cathoholic to pnewton . . .
But I didn’t ask if the President “NEEDS” to legislate from the White House.

Then I also asked why gun-grabbing people who SAY . . . they support all these freedoms REMAIN SILENT when such transgressions against the citizens occur?

pnewton said something opaque about if I would just look then I would see all pnewtons support for the citizens. (So I of course looked)

Pnewton intimated if I would just search, I would see all these valiant efforts at defending principles of freedom for our citizenry.

So I searched, found NONE, posted a screen capture of the actual search, but I also admitted I could be wrong by (name removed by moderator)utting the wrong search phrase (that can occur innocently enough).

As said. . . NOTHING.

So I asked pnewton to help clarify and the condemn the overt Obama abuses which targeted some good law-abiding citizens falsely as “mentally ill” merely because they needed accounting help.

I explained how this idea of disarming Americans was pervasive EVEN OUTSIDE of America (talking about a UN debater who wants to impose HER RULES on America which bans not just virtually every gun, but “look alikes”, etc. She said women who are being raped need basically to accept it or get some sort of karate training because . . . You know what she is going to say . . . Because that is what SHE DID! (It always centers around THEM. These are egocentric ideas put forth by them)

Forget about the old gal with arthritis,
and who cares about the mom who may be post op C-Section,
ignore the little female who if she gets her glasses knocked off in a fistfight, can’t see.
These women all need . . . “Karate”.

It was all about HER FEELINGS summed up in her ridiculous Crocodile Dundee comment.

(This is how people WHO WANT TO IMPOSE THEMSELVES UPON YOUR LIVES think. Pnewton falsely accused ME of wanting to control YOUR lives “YOU’RE too controlling”–the usual personal attack - bad ideas cannot sustain themselves)

Don’t kid yourself. It is the other way around. These guys keep wanting to control YOU (citizens). THEY know YOUR needs better than YOU DO (just ask em).

I’m here precisely because I want citizens to be FREE to make their OWN decisions, and propagate these IDEAS.

I warned pnewton that these freedoms take good efforts to maintain, and if not vigilantly safeguarded, someone will take em away as our Forefathers WARNED us many times.

What did I get from pnewton?
This thread is about the Florida gun bill, not Clinton, immigration, or Obama.
pnewton couldn’t do it.

Pnewton couldn’t condemn a very egregious Government/Obama abuse against it’s own citizenry! (Redefining “mental illness”)

To lovers of freedom, this seems like a proverbial “lay-up”.

To people who pay lip service to freedom, to condemn egregious Government over-reach, even on principle . . . seems to be “dreaming the impossible dream”.

Recall this the next time you hear how “Pro” Second Amendment these guys are.

Remember, IF we ever get to MORE confiscation (now we already have confiscation as I have pointed out elsewhere) . . . These guys will be NOWHERE TO BE FOUND in terms of helping you with legitimate political pressure. Frequently they are applauding.

“Remember my words” they say.
Remember their ACTIONS I say.

Pnewtons response?
That was not my response. If you read what I actually wrote, I told you it was a quote from another thread that you said I never posted on based on you search. The point is, you search above was ineffective and produced the wrong results. That was all. If my post had been the Lord’s Prayer I would have pasted it. It is in a quote box.

In a quote box.

It is a re-post.

It has zero relevance to anything here.
They often recoil…
I would bet, that with most people, you would get different answers from different people you are grouping into this “they”. I can’t answer questions that have a lie built into them, like, “Why do you want to give Trump more power…,” as it assumes a falsehood. You really use way to much rhetoric for me to respond to much, so I stay silent about the stuff I see as pontificating.

Yep. Officer Blaine Gaskill. Interesting twist in the title, but hey, it’s Breitbart.

It kind of makes me feel bad what I said about school police a few weeks ago. Worse yet, a friend of mind dropped in who has been working as an officer at a local high school this year. I bit my tongue, but at least I do not question his willingness to jump in a scrap.

The problem with THAT Pnewton, is that I ALREADY pointed that out (and invited you to supply me with the correct quotes or with the appropriate search engine protocol phrase).

Cathoholic to pnewton (here) . . .
But I am STILL OK with this. Maybe I could try some other search protocol phrases.

That was IRRELEVANT.

Your “response” was . . . .
This is exactly why the president doesn’t NEED to be legislating from the White House. (Emphasis mine)
And I told you it wasn’t about if the president “needed” to be legislating. And I went on and explained WHY this was irrelevant.

And everyone including you reading this, knows it. It’s right up there for us all to see.

This is just a cheap ad hominem on Breitbart (and the readers of Breitbart).

Breitbart has stories that you may not get for DAYS on the MSM. If you are not reading Breitbart, you MAY be reading the SAME old ONE Russia “news story” day after day (with variations on theme) disguised as the top story (Yawn). (OK I am admittedly exaggerating here)

But regardless of if YOU THINK Breitbart is a good news source or not (it is always about what YOU guys think–this is that ego-centricity I have talked about), the ad hominem is not persuasive.

You are going to say “Well Cathoholic, you are doing the same thing regarding the MSM!”

But at this point . . . . because of YOUR statement . . . . a RESPONSE is in order.
