There sounds like there’s a huge disconnect between the USDA (who are quoted in the article specifically saying Obama issued an executive order mandating that religious organizations be allowed to keep up portraits and have religious information and themes) and the Florida Dept. of Agriculture (who claim the USDA is “forcing” them to pull down these portraits). Considering the USDA came out and publicly repudiated Florida’s accounts in this article, I’d send your anger Rick Scott’s way.

I have no anger to send. I just thought other CAF members would like to read the story and comment. 🙂

I realize this isn’t the same thing, but I can’t resist telling the story.

A long time ago, a local cop got into deep trouble with local ministers without intending it.

A “born again” type guy who was an evangelical type preacher was found by the cop in the city park after curfew.

Cop asked preacher (probably gruffly) what he thought he was doing there in the park.

“I’m talking to God” was the preacher’s answer.

The cop thought he said “I’m talking to Bob” and, not seeing “Bob” anywhere around, told the preacher: “Well, you had better tell him to get his a-- out of the park right now because it’s past curfew. Take your own out of here while you’re at it.”

The preacher’s jaw dropped of course. Preacher got inCop left, but faced the wrath of many a preacher the next day.

True story.

This wouldn’t be a problem if the government wouldn’t distribute cheese or any other food in the first place.

So, our tax dollars should not be used to feed our own hungry? Have you ever gone without eating for days (other than fasting to God’s glory) so that your children can eat a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast, lunch, and dinner? Have you ever been happy just to have Ramen noodles once a day? Have you had no electricity or gas to make a grilled cheese sandwich, so you had to use the BBQ pit and wood you found in the park? I have, and it’s terrible. When my boys were babies, I couldn’t even afford formula, let alone cheese for a sandwich.

Please try to be more understanding and generous with what the government (our tax dollars) are trying to do to help the needy.

This organization was just a vehicle to get food to the hungry. It is sad, and extremely disgusting, that Florida’s officials are so blind and prejudiced against the values that were set up by our forefathers, who created the original laws of care and protection of its citizens based upon the teachings of the Bible.

Those in government are there to serve us, the US citizens, in all things regarding sustaining life with integrity and decency. They have no right to tell a Church how to run things. But the Church (its people) have a right to tell them how they run things! They can keep their cheese. We will find it another place…like from souls who are faithful and giving from the abundance with which they have been so blessed.

Please pray for this organization, and those in Florida government, as well as those in charge of the USDA. They are in dire need of our assistance through prayer and faith in our God.

Oh, have you ever eaten any of that government cheese? My grandmother used to get it many years ago…you really need a prayer before and after eating it…

Yes, it kind of tastes like Velveta. Have you seen the prices of Velveta? It’s almost $5.00 for a pound here in Houston.

IIRC the cheese the goverment distributes (or at least did originally) was part of a stockpile they accumulated as part of another program to prop up dairy prices.

I recall a recent article about the new appointment of the director of NASA, who said he had been told by Obama that his (director’s) main objective was to “help muslims feel better about themselves”.

The Obama admin denied this.

Sounds to me like this USDA incident is one of those situations, where they actually did “force” the (Republican) Florida agency into an anti-religion program but then publicly denied any responsibility.

I really doubt the State agency was untruthful about its claim of strong-arm tactics by the USDA.

Also, the Obama admin is known for being anti-Christian, while the Rick Scott admin isn’t, as far as I know.
