I not sure that’s true. The Church also puts a lot of stock in following your conscious (I remember seeing this in the catechism).

try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.

Those in the darkest regions of Africa come to mind. I believe this paragragh was intended to address the unfortunate who never heard of Jesus Christ and His Church.

I haven’t rejected anything. I say the Apostles’ Creed every Sunday, and I believe in the Holy Catholic Church (and the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, etc.).

There have been threads like this forever. This is no one who can give an answer. No one knows who God will choose to welcome into his kingdom. Only God himself and thats that.

To me it just causes stupid fights and nothing is ever learned. Only hatefull exchanges and judgement is passed on others.

Who feels that they can indeed judge another human being? If anyone feels that they can, they sure do not know the teachings of the Church.

A divisional question with no answer except to lump both together as one and then save the one.

Now look at this, God lumped all of humanity into one lump: Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Now, please study that verse carefully, and note the word perish?
If Christ came to save that which was lost : Luk 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

OK, the word “perish” is a present tense word denoting an active action if……….

If we are already lost (perished) to where Jesus had to come to save us, why then would we again perish if?

Sounds like double damnation, won’t you think?

But let’s say that God saves our souls despite our actions, won’t it make better sense the sacrifice of Jesus?

Now, “if” is a condition denoting an expected action, that if we won’t accept God’s sacrifice (Jesus) for our souls, then we remain in the lost condition, as in the continuous perishing condition.

The world was lost from Adam and was in need of a Savior to save mankind from that lost estate.

The condition changes when one of two things happens, 1. If, we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and 2. When we die, we shall bow at the feet of Jesus and instantly recognize the purchaser of our soul.

If we accept Him now, while yet alive in the flesh, we would be living already in His kingdom, because we would be ruled by His kingdom rules.

So, Catholics, protestants and all other religious beliefs who live a Godly life will enjoy the benefits, rewards and blessings of that heavenly kingdom while yet in the flesh.

What that does is free us up to herald the good news of Gods love via Jesus the Christ without being discriminating and condemning those that believe not as we do.

If we present to the world the love of God that is within us, we will have complied with the second half of the Ten Commandments.

The first half of the Ten Commandments belongs to the love and adoration of our God.

Does one need a religion in order to do that?

Eternal life is not a reward for works or “sacraments” completed, but the unmerited gift of God. Jesus spoke in John 10: 28 “I will give eternal life to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life WITH OUT COST”. The good news of the Bible teaches us that God is willing to graciously give those who trust in Christ JESUS eternal life! John 3:16
Romans 6:23 states"For the wages of sin is death but the FREE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord". With such a clear biblical statement that eternal life is a free gift, it cannot possibly be considered a merited reward! How foolish to think such things, when the Bible clearly spells it out for us. Jesus says" I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father except through me" God’s grace is free! Freely he died upon the cross for our sins. And for anyone to think that was not an acceptable sacrifice and that we must still do more works to gain sallvation is foolishness
