I didn’t realize that someone’s enjoyment of watching football made them a cafeteria Catholic.
How do you know some players don’t do that? How do you know they don’t do what they can to help the poor? I believe Warrick Dunn, a running back for Tampa Bay and Atlanta, has been known to do that.Yes, I say positive things all the time.
Make sure that, whenever you watch a football game, you remember that the players are probably making enough money to feed lots of starving people. Why won’t they donate their money to do just that? Hmmm… Does that mean that football fans and fans of any sport where players make a ton of money are an accessory to sin?
Also football is a bloodsport.
Not to worry. The Gators will send them to the pound at the end of October.Yay…college football is almost here!!! :extrahappy:
Geaux Tigers!!! :dancing: But what’s with Georgia getting ranked so high?![]()

Martial arts is not a bloodsport when used for self-defense or while sparring, since the former is what the martial arts are intended for, and the latter is for training purposes. Boxing as a sport and auto racing are bloodsports. Most men have competitive and physically aggressive instincts. Organized sports have long been a way to control those by giving men a socially approved outlet for them, and thus keeping larger society more peaceful and stable.
No one on that field has not consented to what is going on. There are no victims, unless you get someone who is intentionally breaking the rules and trying to hurt people. And trust me, anyone who goes around face-masking every game will quickly get kicked out of the league.
Larowyn, are you one of those people who believes we should beat or train the masculinity out of men, not allow them to have it, in order to better society? Because that is how you sound with your condemnation of “blood sports.” Never mine that mixed martial arts or boxing is much, much more of a blood sport than football.
If you yourself pick and choose what you consider to be a sin and what Church teachings you accept, then you are probably a cafeteria Catholic.I didn’t realize that someone’s enjoyment of watching football made them a cafeteria Catholic.
Who said that priests are perfect? If they don’t consider such violent acts conducted for the sake of someone’s entertainment to be sinful, then there is certainly something very wrong going on.I wasn’t aware that the Catholic church took a position on watching/playing football. Then I guess all the priests that are down on the field at all the Notre Dame football games are condemned???
Please leave. If you yourself pick and choose what you consider to be a sin and what Church teachings you accept, then you are probably a cafeteria Catholic.
Sorry, he passed away several years ago. He would come over to our house on New Year’s Day to eat gumbo and watch football and gasp drink a beer with my daddy.Edit: get me a priest who is a football fan and I’ll convince him myself.
Are you suggesting we mandate charitable giving? How does that work with our free will? How will we get to heaven if we are not free to choose to give?? Forced charity is NOT Charity. Or are you just a bit jealous of their salary? Its a sin to covet your neighbors goods.2007 NFL payroll by team.

I imagine whatever the NFL does is a drop in the bucket compared to what that money could be doing. Did Jesus not say that those who would follow him should give everything to the poor?
Perhaps it would be easier for you to put down your Cross and not follow Jesus, since his way is not the easy way.wow, it must be difficult to be so mean and harsh that you cannot allow other people to find enjoyment in a sport. Also, you are focusing on professional football will most of the posters are talking about college football.
Perhaps it would be best if you sold your computer and gave the money to the poor, then you would not find so much spare time to try and suck the joy from other people’s lives.
I can’t wait for opening day kickoff myself, so I can dress my girls in team garb and scream for my team.
Haha! I’m sure the 50% of the world’s population, which lives in poverty, are sinning by being jealous of people who can eat and live comfortably in that case. Is that why you abstain from donating to the poor? Are you suggesting we mandate charitable giving? How does that work with our free will? How will we get to heaven if we are not free to choose to give?? Forced charity is NOT Charity. Or are you just a bit jealous of their salary? Its a sin to covet your neighbors goods.
If the Netherlands bans prostitution, what would happen to all the jobless prostitutes and their pimps? What about the industry that football produces? What about the vendors, the janitors, the shops that sell the football gear? If we do away with NFL, what about all those jobs??
Speak for yourself.I think you need to wake up and smell theYouth can only be an excuse for ignorance for so long. Soon you’ll have to grow up.
HAHAHAJust because I’m right and you don’t agree doesn’t make me a troll.
CCC #F says that Belgarion is a troll and Larowyn is not.HAHAHA
Show me the paragraph in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and I’ll agree with you.
You really need a hobby!!!CCC #F says that Belgarion is a troll and Larowyn is not.
