For a confused secular friend

I have a secular friend, a very nice, likeable person with strong and high values, despite being secular, who’s confused in her love life, largely because of problems of her own making (a mixture of insecurity, immaturity and perhaps trying to play games, possibly rooted in childhood, but that’d be a far guess and I’d rather not ask). I would love for that friend to find God and to find a good guy she could settle down with, and of course to quit hurting herself and other people in the process. Meanwhile she has a ton on her professional plate, and she’s got a rough deal so far despite extraordinary qualifications and competence (as in a woman just embarking on her thirties, with several respectable, degrees, two fluent foreign languages, attractive past employment history etc., still struggling to find any decent work).

I’m praying for her. May the Lord resolve her situation and may He rescue her from secularism.

**God, our loving Father, you sent your Son,
Jesus Christ, into this world to counter
all the forces of evil: sin, suffering and death,
and to overcome evil with the force of good;
hatred with the power of love,
your great love for us in Jesus.

Help us never to curse the darkness,
but to join with you in bringing
Your light into this world,
the light that is your Son,
born of the Virgin Mary, in Bethlehem.
Help us to be instruments of your light
and love by doing one special act of kindness
or by being your special instrument
of reconciliation this New Year.

May the Christ Candle we light symbolise
our desire to bring light into a world of darkness
and hope into a world of despair.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.**

Our Father who art in heaven…
Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace… Hail Mary, full of grace…
Glory Be to the Father…
Amen…

PRAYER TO ST. WILLIAM OF YORK

St. William of York, you were so patient in adversity. Through the long years when your bishopric was in question, you endured this trial with resignation and grace. You were content to follow God’s will and to wait for His will on His own terms and in His own time. On this your feast day, I ask you to pray for me and for all those who post in the forum, that we may persevere in the path to holiness as you did. Please ask God to grant blessings on all those here who have asked for prayer, if these intentions are according to His will for them. If not, please pray that they may be at peace with His answer and discern the more perfect way. We ask this together with you through Christ our Lord. Amen.

**Prayer to Mary, Undoer of Knots
**
Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon chevalier’s secular friend, and see the snarl of knots that exist in her life.
You know very well how desperate she is, her pain and how she is bound by these knots.
Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of His children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of chevalier’s friend’s life.
No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone.
Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot…I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all, You are our hope.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives us, the fortification of our feeble strength, the enrichment of our destitution and with Christ the freedom from our chains.
Hear my plea.
Keep us, guide us, protect us, o safe refuge!

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for us, and this intention

Hail Mary,
Full of grace,
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb,
Jesus
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of death,
Amen

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.
