Yup. I’ve finished my law studies for the Master’s degree and I’m starting a PhD course. This is the time to do some serious thinking about the future (and a bit late at this). Please pray for some guidance for me.
There are many options with various different benefits and drawbacks and there’s some discernment for me to do - especially about entering public service or not. I don’t exactly desire to be a clerk, but a judge or a diplomat is a noble calling. For now, however, I need to finance the doctoral course, although this job should be at least somehow connected to what I end up doing after the doctorate. I won’t bore you with details, but there’s a lot to choose from and values are heavily involved in this, especially considering public service vs private career, the judge’s necessity to be neutral vs my desire to enter into politics and help establish some real Christian democratic party, the ability to dedicate myself to the calling of a judge, diplomat, advocate (attorney) even, in a way impossible (and instinctly wrong to me) with private businesses vs the necessity to provide support for current and future family (if you’re a judge here, forget about your wife staying home and who knows how you’re going to pay for a house) and I also have to take into account my desire to have some form of academic work, which is largely impossible with most private employers but little problem for a judge, then there are some skills I would sorely miss using in a job that doesn’t. All in all, there’s a lot of tough decisions to make and from some, there won’t be much return. So, please say a prayer or two for me.
Thank you.
In fact, please pray for me to make the right decision, not the best for me - and to have the strength to do the right thing as well.
