For an End to Mother's Suffering

Hold the sorrowful, strengthen the fearful,
give aid to all needing help or healing,
assist those who are sick, in pain or suffering,
be with those needing peace, console the lonely,
comfort the lost or hopeless, guard the unborn,
pray for those who are dying or who have died,
soften those with hardened hearts,
enlighten those who do not yet see truth,

show us the way to do the right thing,

look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,

Thank you for your continuing prayers. I am still humbled and amazed at how Mother has been since early December. She will not recover but she has less moments of frustration and more peace and joy. She will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow (she will be 82).

She has suffered so much the last 2 and a half years since being bed ridden after a massive stroke. The confusion, frustration and loneliness cause her much anxiety. There is no longer any safe wheelchair that can be built for her as her muscles keep contracting and she has no control over her movements. Now she has reverted to her native tongue only 3 people understand her.

Gracious and merciful Father, please let their mother feel your mercy.

Thank you for your prayers. Mother has her moments of frustration and suffering but she is much happier within herself. I had a short moment when her spiritual journey crossed onto mine, which left me humbled and dumbfounded. I wonder whether God was gently showing me His work within a soul? It is a comfort to know that when it is necessary, the mind can be irrelevant to the journey of our souls.

Maybe this long time of suffering is truly a blessing as God knows Heaven wouldn’t quite be Heaven, if mother wasn’t there.

My mother and I had a sweet and cognitive moment like this. It was, and is still, a blessing I’ll always remember.
