it can try one’s patience, but keep being persistant!
I am… even though I hate arguing. Whenever I say something about my religion he attacks me w/some dumb remark like, “you pray to images”, or “you kneel in front of a cross”, or “why worship the cross if Jesus supposedly died in it? Would you carry a gun if someone you loved died from a gun shot wound?”

We always end up arguing becuase his remarks sound insulting to me… I try but he always makes a smart remark… See my point?

JWs are not receptive to any of our beliefs. They are at your door for one reason only, to convert you. If you engage them in discussion they will continue only so long as they think they are converting you. If they feel they are having the tables turned on them they will leave and may never come back. Notice that most of the time it will be an elder with a newcomer JW. The elder will terminate the session if it is not going his way. They are taught that ALL other churches are false religions, based on pagan religion and believe that you are doing the work of Satan without knowing it.

It seems I recall that change happend to coincide with a Governing Body members’ daughter and her illness. Yet, my memory is scetchy on that.
I seem to vaugely recall that it was the spark that caused that sudden flip flop in policy and they really offered no biblical reason for the about face.

It was one of those “light is getting brighter” things. Now, in this case I agree the light got brighter. But its how it happened that I sorta question:rolleyes:
I was listening to some audio files online the other day and heard something interesting. A man who runs an ex-JW ministry talked about getting a call from a very angry JW Elder who had lost his wife because of the ban on blood transfusions. The man used a lot of profanity, and concluded his call by saying that he would kill the governing body off with a machine gun if they EVER changed on the blood issue!

Mailcarriers can go postal. Maybe this door to door bit does it to people!
