Wow you have such empathy for Harry - I mean your concern is startling.

well If you were little when this came out and follow it to now you be wording to I don’t harry to die
to tell the truth I want more books

We saw the movie Sunday and I really enjoyed it. Much more than GoF, which was boring. My youngest son didn’t like OOTP, he said IT was boring.

My favorite character in the book is Snape and my favorite character in the movies is Ron because Rupert Grint is just too darn cute!

Considering all the other books that are out there Harry Potter is a great series - it emphasizes many virtues, lacks sex, shows magic as fiction, and shows a stark divide between good and evil.

I have to agree with you. I like the fact that you don’t see teenage pregency at hogwarts. Yea the students “date” and kiss but remember when the boys try to go into the girls dorm? That always makes me laugh.

Plus it teaches good morals. look at Harry in HBP. He befriends Looney Luna and always seems to care more about treating people correctly then being liked (well except for Snape and Malfory but could you blame him 😃 )

Plus i love where she is taken the Neville charcter. He was such a geek guy but we’ve learned more about him and his family and he has now started to come into himself. He is turning out to be quite a good wizard. Intersting to see that it could have been Harry or Neville that the Lord Val faced.

Wow, I had a double-header today. Came home and found my copy of the new book at my front door. I thought it wasn’t supposed to be available until Saturday, but I’m holding it in my hands! 👍

Then went and saw the new movie with my daughter. Lots of stuff left out from the book, but I expected that due to the length of the book. Well done over all though.

Did you buy it from Amazon (if so US or UK) - because if what you say is true they could get in a lot of trouble for releasing it early - and I’m not sure you should keep it.

Blacktiger - you don’t explicitly say that you are christian but I feel that it would be sinful for nc-John to tell you. It is basically disrespecting the author and possibly breaking copyright some way to disclose information before it’s allowed. And Seriously it is only 4 days away (or 3 for all practical purposes if you plan to get it on Sun. Morning at 12:00 am).

As long as Blacktiger keeps the info to himself, I’m not so sure its necessarily wrong for him to find out…Since he’ll find out on the 21st anyways, whether he buys the book or not… Someone even said (while I’m not sure about now but later) but according to US copywrite laws if you buy a legal copy of the book for yourself, its not considered wrong to get let’s say a copy of the ebook. (Since you already paid the author his or her royalties.) I do think though it would be wrong to download a copy of the book, and then not to bother buying the book yourself… Although I have the tendency to go to libraries or bookstores and read books for free myself…
(heh!)

Don’t get me wrong, I haven’t downloaded an illegal copy of the book. (or any book or cd.) But I think that as long as the people who do make sure to go out and buy the book, things will be fine… This being said, I do think its kind of awful that someone would put leaked photographs on the book.

Somebody quite meanly told me part of the Important Plot Point that came out of the epilogue leak (the characters it concerns, not the exact details). If anyone knows the Important Plot Point, I think it’s appropriate that it goes that way - it’s what I expected. Granted, the epilogue leak might have been faked. Somebody could have taken the text from a fanfic or something and printed it. Therefore, dunno if it actually does happen that way.

I’ve already said in another thread I want Voldemort to defeat Harry, but somebody else to defeat Voldemort. Snape would be fun. Or Neville. Or a Sirius who we know is only ambiguously dead. Something like that. Exploded expectations which are so extreme like that are fun.

Also, I have a new word. “Snapenfreude” - the joy you feel when after all the fan hype about Snape’s betrayal of Dumbledore being some kind of cover fails and Snape is evil (again, exploded expectations). If evil!Snape was to kill Voldemort, it would be a “we’ve failed” thing, turning on his master, like Wormtongue killing Saruman at the end of Return of the King.

So, who wants what to happen in this book?

I agree. I’ll be over to pick it up shortly!! 😃

Maybe they shipped it to him assuming it would take longer than it did, you know?

I was surprised when I got a delivery notification email saying it had been shipped, and assumed it was a mistake (no, it wasn’t Amazon). The email said delivery would likely take 5-10 business days, so maybe they figured that it wouldn’t arrive until after the release date. I’ve never had anything from those people take more than two days though, which is what this took.

No, I’m not going to reveal anything at all. In fact, I won’t be looking myself and will just read it from front to back, hoping someone doesn’t drop a spoiler on me before I get to things. Planning on taking it along on my trip to Florida tomorrow and reading it over the weekend. I’ll be mostly secluded at a B&B so hopefully I won’t hear any stray remarks.

Order of the Pheonix and Prisoner of Azkaban have been the best made movies so far in my opinion.

I was disappointed with the Goblet of Fire movie. IMO, Goblet of Fire is the best book so far in the series, and the movie was a let down. They left way too much out, and it felt rushed overall. Yet, they could have put more time into certain parts like the maze, if they didn’t have ten unnecessary minutes of Harry being chased by a dragon.
I couldn’t agree more. OOP was excellent.
Goblet movie was too choppy in its direction and too much left out.
I can’t wait for the new book.
Anyone know anything about the contents yet?

Well, I just found a page of spoilers online, they appear to be real and with Rowling’s style. I will not post either the spoilers or the link here.

I just saw this:
cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/07/18/books.potter.onebay.ap/index.html
Meanwhile, Scholastic, Inc. announced Wednesday that it was taking “immediate legal action” against online retailer DeepDiscount.com and distributor Levy Home Entertainment after learning that “some individuals have received copies of `Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ through the mail.”
My favorite:
“We are also making a direct appeal to the Harry Potter fans who bought their books from DeepDiscount.com and may receive copies early, requesting that they keep the packages hidden until midnight on July 21st,” Scholastic, Rowling’s U.S. publisher, said in a statement.
 Sorry ncjohn & Scholastic, but I’d be reading that thing RIGHT NOW!

-pouts-

I want my copy early!

I just pre-ordered it at Barnes and Noble, so I’ll be going to the “midnight party” to pick it up. I plan on reading straight through, front to back. No food breaks, no sleep breaks, nothing. I have to finish it before Sunday, otherwise I won’t be able to concentrate at Mass!!!

But, I think it should be more than doable. I read HBP in about 8 hours when it came out.

As for theories (I have not read any spoilers or heard anything from what’s really in the book, so these are just my thoughts here)…

I know many say that Harry is a horocrux. I’m not so sure. It seems that it would make logical sense that Harry somehow became an unintentional horocrux, especially with his special connection with Voldemort and his scar. Plus, Dumbledore even said that he thinks Voldemort had in mind that he was going to make his final horocrux when he went to Godric’s Hollow…

My only reserve about this theory is that it’s too obvious. It would mean that Harry must be destroyed in order for Voldemort to be killed. Which also means that Harry can’t be the one who kills Voldemort. So, I don’t know.

As for Snape… perhaps I’m just being hopeful, but I think he’s still on the Order’s side. If you think about it, if he was really on Voldemort’s side, he would have given Voldy so much information about the Order that it would be impossible that it’s still functioning. Wouldn’t Voldemort attempt to destroy his only real opposition? Plus, the clever insert of Snape’s Unbreakable Vow with Nacrissa Malfoy… but that could just be a ploy to make us think he’s on the good side.

🤷 Really, I don’t know. I’m just excited for Rowling to give us something none of us expected!

**I saw Order of the Phoenix yesterday at the IMAX theater. The battle scene at the ministry was in 3D and it was pretty awesome.

Now I have to go back and read the book to see what I missed, I read the book so long ago I don’t recall.**
