excaliber as you learn about mormon doctrine i hope you will talk about the similarities and differences from the JWs. I understand there are more similarities than differences.
I bet this whole thing about polygamy will be considered off topic, but since the question was asked and the above answer is from hosemonkey, thought perhaps a clarification is in order. Isn’t the polygamous marriages from the many offshoots of the LDS, but not from the LDS headquartered in Salt Lake City? Thought that if polygamy was practiced by the members of the LDS in Salt Lake City, the offending parties would be excommunicated. It’s true, probably in excess of 30,000 polygamous marriages in Utah, Colorado, Arizona and Idaho.

As already pointed out, the LDS Church retains polygamy as a doctrine, just, it is a doctrine they do not practice. The LDS Church itself will excommunicate anyone who is practicing polygamy.I was told something that could have been a rumor.
I was told that mormons still practice poligamy illegally.
The man has unofficial marriages with women living in different homes. And the women just says that she dose not know who the father of her children are.
Don’t know if this is true or not?

Well, he did answer your question. He told you that Mormons secretly practice polygamy. Do you believe him?Because I don’t know where the jw’s and lds are different. The logical conclusion is to ask more then one person.
The guilty take the truth to be hard. -nephiso are you "standing your ground or launching the attack? interesting that no one can handle more than 5 minutes of your words on mormonism.
nephi is a construct of someones imagination.so what truth? i wouldn’t give 5 minutes to JW’s or amway reps either. are you claiming that makes them true?in any case i would respond with 2 peter 2 to all mormons. The guilty take the truth to be hard. -nephi
your denial of a fact does not cause it to be a non fact.nephi is a construct of someones imagination.so what truth? i wouldn’t give 5 minutes to JW’s or amway reps either. are you claiming that makes them true?in any case i would respond with 2 peter 2 to all mormons.
i don’t deny any FACTS. and your assertion applies to all. that particular petrine quote i believe applies specifically to mormonism, especially the early leaders like joseph smith and brigham young.your denial of a fact does not cause it to be a non fact.
Peter is cool A bit more blunt than I personally tend to be, but I do agree with him.
You guys better not be!!!Well, he did answer your question. He told you that Mormons secretly practice polygamy. Do you believe him?

A couple (a few?.. I’m bad with time passage) years ago I was home for my family reunion and there was a front page story in the Chicago Tribune about LDS families that practice polygamy. So I do believe that some LDS secretly practice polygamy. Though since one can’t have more than one spouse they are all really nothing more than adulterers.Well, he did answer your question. Legally the women are single mothers and as single mothers qualify for state or federal aid.Though since one can’t have more than one spouse they are all really nothing more than adulterers.
