Okay, this forum seems plagued by a plethora of problems, so lets ask ourselves what the problem is, what would it take to get you to convert to christianity, and no “I will never” statements.

a complete restructuring of the religion, which would include:
  • accepting the belief that God is alone, without any partners what so ever. that He does not beget, was not begotten, did not appear to mankind in some incarnate form.
  • accepting and believing in prophet muhammad and adhering to his teachings and to the teachings found in God’s final revelation, the Quran.
but, technically, that would would entail that christianity become islam…

I don’t believe the problems on the forum are caused by us not wanting to convert. We are already “Christians”, we believe we are following the true teachings of Jesus peace be upon him. If you want me to convert you would basically have to do what rgonzales said.

I am being honest here. I came to the forum open minded, and if I had seen some other things than what I saw, you might have another catholic on your hands.

A) If things such as the trinity are explained until they make sense to me

B) If I hadnt seen the extreme ignorance and unbelievable hostility that I have seen on these forums, something I have never seen on any muslim forum no matter what statement has been made.

C) If the church stopped being a sort of business, and used donations more effeciently, and wasn’t so vehement about collection, and…well just if the church wasnt a business.

The Trinity is something that cannot be explained but has been revealed. Think of a hand. It has 5 fingers but is still just one hand. That’s about the closest we can come to it.

Yes, I’ve been guilty of that and I apologize! I just don’t like seeing my beliefs all twisted out of context.

Here, I’m afraid you don’t know anything about the church

i get my info from pop-culture, I admit. However I do know that many churches are very business like and have a number of incomes.

Explain.

Christ never killed anyone, Mohammad beheaded thousands of men. In Catholicism God is the Father who loves you, in Islam he is a Master and you are his slave. It is a no brainer to me.

peace Kristyn

Yes, in Islam God is the Master and we are his slaves. I dont see anything wrong with this statement. One Catholic on this forum once mentioned that there is something along these lines in the Bible…i’ll try to look it up inshAllah.

In terms of love…we discussed this at length in another thread. Allah is “The loving” and He is the Most Merciful.

out of curiousity: where do you get your knowledge about Islam?

Just as you once yielded your members to impurity and to greater and greater iniquity, so now yield your members to righteousness for sanctification. . . . But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the return you get is sanctification and its end, eternal life.45

There are also countless references in the Bible indicating that God is the Master.

God is master the way a loving father is master and not the way a pet owner is master of his dogs. That my friend is a critical differnce between Islam and Christianty. Our end is not to be happy at the feet of God but instead we are to be eternally blessed in communion with God. God in us and we in God.

God Bless

God in us and we in God.
Hey Deacon,

i really dont understand this. if God is IN us, doesn’t that give us divine powers? or doesnt that make us God-like?

and the portrayal of God in Islam is being totally misconstrued. We are a religion of Mercy. here is a great article that my professor at the University of Texas in Austin gave me.

mercy

it is a very interesting read…and answers various questions that most of the individuals on this forum have.

this is my first response on this msg board and i have noticed a lot of talk of frivolous material (errors in the bible, the misquotes of the prophet). i think it ultimately comes down to the foundation of the faiths.

the true question comes down to the validity of the trinity and the validity of the oneness (the aspect which is called tawhid in arabic) in Islam.

thanks

The concept of Original Sin

"All of humanity has inherited the sin of Adam. Only the death of the sinless offspring of God could erase this sin. No one is born clean, no matter if his life is only for a single day. Only baptism and faith in the death of Jesus can save one from this destiny. "

i was just wondering if this is the majority belief among the catholics?

cos if this is, why do I bear a sin that I never commited… how is that just?

We all believe this.

We were originally in the garden of eden intended to love only God.

Through our actions we have turned away from Him.

We were never intended to be Caliphs of this world.

We were intended to live with Allah in Jannah.

Adam chose sin, and sundered the contact with Allah.

Now we love, but things other than Allah.

This is the nature of that sin, and whether we like it or not, it is manifest in our lives.

Quite right.

We have had a long discussion on this, and have found that Christians adhere remarkably to Tawheed.

:rotfl: i’m sorry, but that’s possibily the funniest thing i’ve ever read from you.

i’m willing to say that you, sir, don’t understand the concept of tawheed in the very least.

Wish i had time these days to reply to posts, but I truly do not. Hopefully next week.

Just had to agree with r.gonzales. That truly was the funniest think I had heard from hawk. :rotfl:

The fact that he ignorantly believes this shows how little he knows about Islamic Tawheed. Allaahu Musta’aan.
