Hi, guys. I was wondering if anyone might say a quick prayer for my mother. She’s very depressed, an alcoholic, and has been abusing sleeping pills. She’s been this way, sad and lonely, for a few years, but lately she says she’s feeling suicidal. (I lost my father to suicide five years ago, so this isn’t new for me, but it’s painfully familiar and I’d like to stop it in its tracks now.) She’s said she’d go for help many times before, but now I think she’s serious: she’s going to see a doctor about getting into rehab on Monday.

If anyone has time, I’d very much appreciate a prayer or kind thought for her and our small family, that this weekend will go well and she’ll find the help she needs. Thank you all for being here on CAF. 🙂

Dove,
If your mom is depressed, drinking, taking sleeping pills and feeling suicidal, I would suggest getting her help immediately. Your **“painfully familiar” **feelings are there for a reason.

Lord, we beseech Your loving mercy upon dove51’s mother, whom You planned from all eternity to be the stability of her family. She has borne a heavy load, and bears it to this day, but in desperation, has added stress upon stress. Merciful God in Heaven, You never burden us with more than we can bear. Look with Divine Mercy upon dove’s mother, who has assigned herself more than even You, her loving God, would dare. In her weakness and fragility, may she remember Christ’s weakness on the cross, and plead with Him for Heavenly assistance. Bless her with the Grace of repentance, that she may turn from all sin and anguish, toward You, the Source of all hope and strength. And, when she turns, O Gracious Father, rush to embrace her as did the father of the prodigal son upon catching sight of him who was lost, but now is found. On that day, Lord, there will be celebration on earth as there is in Your Kingdom. We ask this through Christ, Your Beloved Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen Alleluia!

Keeping you and your Mom in my daily prayers. Lord, watch over this family in their time of need. Keep them safe from harm, and give them strength and courage to get through this trying time.
