Reflections on Tribulations and Interior Struggle

Are you suffering some great tribulation? Do you have reverses?
Say very slowly, as if savoring the words, this powerful and manly prayer:
“May the most just and most lovable will of God be done, be fulfilled,
be praised and eternally exalted above all things. Amen. Amen.”
I assure you that you’ll find peace.
#692
You suffer in this present life, which is only a dream, and a short one
at that. Rejoice, because your Father God loves you so much, and
if you put no obstacles in his way, after this bad dream he will give
you a good awakening.
#694
I don’t know why you’re amazed: the enemies of Christ were never
very reasonable.
When Lazarus was raised from the dead, you might have thought they
would yield and confess the divinity of Jesus. But no! “Let us kill him
who gives life!” they said.
It’s the same today.
#696
If you accept tribulation with a faint heart, you lose your joy and your
peace, and you run the risk of not deriving any spiritual profit from
that trial.
#699
Cross, toil, tribulation: such will be your lot as long as you live. That
was the way Christ followed, and the disciple is not above his Master.
#702
You are upset. Look: happen what may in your interior life or in the world
around you, never forget that the importance of events or of people is very
relative. Take things calmly. Let time pass. And then, as you view persons
and events dispassionately and from afar, you’ll acquire the perspective
that will enable you to see each thing in its proper place and in its true
proportion.
If you do this, you’ll be more objective and you’ll be spared many a cause
of anxiety.
#705
Worry? Never. That’s to lose your peace.
#717
Blessed be the hardships of this earth! Poverty, tears, hatred, injustice,
dishonor…You can endure all things in him who strengthens you.
#722
This time the trial has been so long. Perhaps - and without the perhaps -
you haven’t borne it well so far, for you were still seeking human
consolations. But your Father God has torn them out by the roots so as
to leave you no other refuge but him.
#726
After losing those human consolations you have been left with a feeling
of loneliness, as if you were hanging by a thin thread over the emptiness
of a black abyss. And your cries, your shouts for help, seem to go
unheard by anybody.
The truth is you deserve to be so forlorn. Be humble; don’t seek yourself;
don’t seek your own satisfaction. Love the cross - to bear it is little - and
our Lord will hear your prayer. And in time, calm will be restored to your
senses. And your heart will heal, and you will have peace.
#728
All our fortitude is on loan.
#729
Each day, O my God, I am less sure of myself and more sure of you!
#732
O Jesus! I rest in you.
#733
Trust always in your God. He does not lose battles.
#774
Steps: to be resigned to the will of God; to conform to the will of God; to want
the will of God; to love the will of God.
Amen and Amen.
