The main reason why Catholics have priests is because only the priest can consecrate the Eucharist.Am I right?
Are you sure? Last time I heard, among Christians in Asia, the Majority are Catholic. In some of those countries, like China, for instance, is even difficult to know the real number of Christians and know whether there are other Christians from other Churches, because ALL Christians (Catholic and protestant) are persecuted there thus their meetings and churches are underground. Those countries are really tricky, because they had never been evangelized before and now both Protestants (American Protestants to be exact, with their large monetary support to do their ministry) and Catholics are coming to those countries.
Well probably i did not specify South East Asia, but if you’re talking about Asia Pacific, yup no doubts there are more Catholic then Protestant. For China , 0.75% of the population are Catholic, 1.2% of the population are protestant. Thus China has lots of lose soul for us to win, which explain why my church has missionary trip virtually every mth to evangelize there. SEA are dominated by buddhist thus it is lots of work for us to do for God. My church are very active in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and supporting some small churches in countries like India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Thailand. We hope to do as much as we can during our life time on earth
Now, on the other hand, in countries where you CAN know, and that have not been evangelized before until now, such as AFRICAN countries, the Catholic population has multiplied by 10, not even CLOSE to the protestants.
In the US, Catholics are the third fastest growing Christian religion after the pentecostals and mormons (if you consider mormons to be Christians)
**In fact do what i know, US are growing numbers for the catholic…a good sign, probably Catholic should now spend more time to evangelise else where
. Mormons no idea since they are pretty small in percentage in my country and also we don’t even have a mormons temple in my place if i’m not mistaken **

But obviously, because the speed of growth is expressed in %, and Catholics being BY FAR the biggest denomination in the US, when we talk about NUMBERS of Conversions, they are NOT even CLOSE to pentecostals and mormoms as Catholics are several tens of millions more numerous than mormons and pentecostals.
You should have seen when my wife became Catholic in the Galveston/Houston dioscese (population of the galveston/houston area, about 3,000,000 people in total), when it came for the Rite of initiation, there were 3 churches FILLED each one with over 1000 catechumens, which were coming into the church that easter.
**You are saying 3,000,000 people are Catholics in houston area rite and not for a single parish rite!!! coz if i’m not mistaken the world largest stand alone church belong to the AOG congregration “Yoido Full Gospel Church” in South Korea around 800,000 members…Wow!!! Well attending a service church (although my church is not very big around 22,000 members) has always being a challenge , coz we have to book our seat in advance to avoid over crowded situation…but this show that pple love God so much that church are jam pack with believers for their service**
In our parish, here in College Station, TX we have to allow people into the Church in three different ocassions (when normally it should be during Easter), because otherwise it would be imposible as each time over 50 people enter the Church (total over 150 converts each year) in my parish alone.
**Praise the Lord for that, i’m sure God will be delighted**
Any way,
Many blessings,
E.C.
Yup in India, 1.58% are Catholics, 0.7% are protestantNot in India, the Catholic Church dominates.(Among christians)
Hihi, yup you’re correct in Vietnam 6.62% of the population are Catholic and 1% are protestant. Praise the Lord for giving pple who spread their effort to win lose soulI think in Vietnam, there are more Catholics as the French missionaries came to the country way back. I am glad they did - not only they brought the Word of God over to us, one person of the French missionary is the father of Vietnamese language - how great!![]()
I was just kinda guessing because when I was still living there, I didn’t know anything about other Christians. Where do you get the percentages from? I am bad, ain’t I - didn’t know much about it.Hihi, yup you’re correct in Vietnam 6.62% of the population are Catholic and 1% are protestant. Praise the Lord for giving pple who spread their effort to win lose soul
The simple answer is that “all Protestant Christians” do not believe this. This is an opinion of radical Protestantism, particularly common in the U.S. Even the Westminster Confession–by no means wimpy in its Protestantism–says that believers need “a due use of the ordinary means” in order to understand Scripture. To All Protestant Christians,
If you believe that the Bible is easy to read, and that everyone should intrepret the Bible by themselves, then why do you have your pastors or ministers go to Seminary School?
Doctrinally speaking the Catholic Church is one. Those who do not agree with the Catholic Church teachings and have officially say it publicly are schismatic, of have officially left the Catholic Church.
Cardinals or priest who disobey the Magisterium of the Church like that cardinal who ordain married priests, are execommunicated.
The teachings of the Catholic Church are one. There is no Catholic dioceses with that teaches different doctrines. There are Churches who claim with be Catholic, but they are not in union with the Pope.
To be truly Catholic, a Catholic must adhere to the teachings of the Church, which Jesus has given to Peter and his successors the bishops, and the Pope Benedict.
