As one who was once LDS as a child I am curious how you would react to this Saints Story.
Lead Story at: http://utahmission.com/
Isaac Jogues / 16O7 - 1646

It was this Saint that brought me to Catholicism from Mormonism.

God Bless
Rich

Rich, it is an amazing story of a remarkable person. This saint would have been delighted to be inspiration for your conversion to Catholicism. I hope he continues to intercede for you throughout your life. How did you, a LDS come to read about him!

For a different angle, it was visits from Mormons that triggered my return to the Catholic Faith around 30 years ago. Imagine their astonishment when I thanked them for it!

Thanks for sharing this website. I have read of him but not in such detail. May this extraordinary saint intercede for us all.

Thanks, Trishie

I know of someone who has a better story to tell. It was reading his story that convinced me of the truth of Mormonism. You can read it here.

this is very much like the story of how reading dianetics convinced tom cruise of the truth of scientology.

i don’t think anyone here is interested in converting to mormonism. but hey stick around, there’s still time for you to become catholic

Thanks for this site Rich. I am also glad that you became Catholic. I spent 19 years grrowing up LDS there is alot of reasons I left due to the LDS thinking and belifs. I could never be more happy being in God’s holy church.

Maybe you should post that site to someone on LDS.net they may be interested.
That was a silly comment! He told us of a good story that led him from Mormoinsm to Catholicism; and I told him of a good story that convinced me of the truth of Mormonism. I think I have as much right to tell my side of the story as he has his. Do you mind?

I do mind, its a Catholic site we don’t care about why you are a Mormon.

The biggest problem with Joseph Smith’s history is there is no evidence any of it ever happened. For example, David Whitmer said the following about the ordination of Joseph and Oliver Cowdrey by John the Baptist: “I never heard that an Angel had ordained Joseph and Oliver to the Aaronic priesthood until the year 1834, 183]5,] or [183]6–in Ohio. My information from Joseph and Oliver upon this matter being as I have stated, and that they were commanded so to do by revealment through Joseph. I do not believe that John the Baptist ever ordained Joseph and Oliver as stated and believed by some. I regard that as an error, a misconception.” David Whitmer, interview by Zenas H. Gurley Jr., 14 Jan. 1885, typescript, LDS archives. See Edward Stevenson Journal, 9 Feb. 1886, cited in Joseph Grant Stevenson, Stevenson Family History (Provo, UT: by the Author, 1955), 1:177-78. Quoted in Grant Palmer, An Insider’s View of Mormon Origins, (Salt Lake City: Signature Books)

There is absolutely no evidence that Peter, James and John actually came to Joseph Smith and ordained him to the “higher” priesthood – the evidence indicates Joseph invented this in the early 1830s to justify his authority. And of course the evidence of the Book of Mormon is nil. There is also no evidence of a visitation from God the Father and Jesus Christ until this very testimony was written in 1838. Joseph seemed to invent it well after the event was supposed to have occurred in 1820. It’s all made up.

Hi Stephen,

Not to pile on ( BUT 🙂 ) another example of a Mormon answering a sincere question with an inability to answer the said question.

God bless,
Carl

The problem we have is that you Mormons come here to our site and throw your fictional books around and then get mad when we do not agree. All LDS books are Fiction no matter what you say here or do you will not change that fact.

Is case you are wondering fiction is:
Fiction is the telling of stories which are not real. More specifically, fiction is an imaginative form of narrative, one of the four basic rhetorical modes. Although the word fiction is derived from the Latin fingo, fingere, finxi, fictum, "to form, create", works of fiction need not be entirely imaginary and may include real people, places, and events. Fiction may be either written or oral. Although not all fiction is necessarily artistic, fiction is largely perceived as a form of art or entertainment. The ability to create fiction and other artistic works is considered to be a fundamental aspect of human culture, one of the defining characteristics of humanity.

How true! Wouldn’t he make a great member of the Church Militant? Come, O Holy Spirit, Come!

I thought this was the Non-Catholic Religions Folder. looks around Oh; it is.

What is wrong with what zerinus posted? We can see in Smith’s own words what he said. So far, I’ve noticed a sentence error, but, that could be reflective of the writing style at the time.

Oh please zerinus. Did you even read the story that was linked? You can hardly compare a man who is shot (with a gun in his hand, having fired it already) in a prison “cell” (not a cell at all at this point, but a nice room… been there.) where he has been incarcerated for torching a printing press that exposed his lies to that of a man as humble and sincere as this true SAINT.

in Christ
