For Those Who Are Skeptical About God's Existence

Some times people recover from illness, this is a statistical fact.. That fact that some of them might pray means nothing.

Let me put is to you this way, why does god never cure amputees?
Why? Having an amputation isn’t a terminal illness. People can get by just fine without a limb. In fact, people’s lives are sometimes saved when an amputation has to be done.

You’re Welcome:thumbsup:

Just FYI: I never took this thread seriously because there weren’t any serious and significant arguments against the existence of God posted. While the skeptics were busy working on their “Bernadette’s face is covered with wax, therefore there is no God” kind of “logic”, I was posting jokes about atheism in another thread. 😉

How many skeptics does it take to change a light bulb?
Actually, they won’t do it–they have no sense of urgency about the situation–they aren’t sure they’re really in the dark…
All of this got started because someone --you?-- posted an ‘argument’ implied if not stated, that Bernadette’s “preserved” corpse and other ‘incorruptibles’ posed an argument for the existence of God.

All the hooha about miracles and incorruptibles is, I think, a pretty pathetic attempt to shore up people’s belief in an all-knowing, all-powerful God, in the face of a lot of evidence that there is no such thing. The recent devastating earthquakes in Haiti are a good example. What God would permit something like this to happen?

If you have “a lot of evidence that there is no such thing” as “an all-knowing, all-powerful God” then why didn’t you present your evidence? Instead, you wasted everyone’s time summarily discounting matters, of which you have amply demonstrated, that you know virtually nothing about, such as Padre Pio, St. Thomas Aquinas, etc.?

I’ll check back after you have had the opportunity to post your so-called evidence.

So your saying he can’t? 👍

You are now talking in circles. No one can possibly have that kind of knowledge to assert that no amputees have ever been cured. Yours is an argument from ignorance: Since you are unaware of any claim, then no such claims here ever been made. Not very logical.😛
Ok how about this, there is not ONE recorded case. 😉

Question for a skeptic:
Does it mean that God is fallible if He is denies the very existence of conclusive demonstrations of His non-existence?

Brother, you arguments would be thrown right out the window by any scientific jury or legal court. What do you mean by “illness”? The flu? Upset stomach, headache? The morning after sickness after too much partying? Testicular cancer with metastases to the brain, post radiation and chemotherapy? What kind of chemotherapy? Was the testicular cancer hormone-dependent? Liposarcoma, recurrence of metastases to the lung, within one year of surgery and radiation therapy, and then spontaneous regression with no treatment at all?

“Illness” without specifics just doesn’t cut it. At least not for serious investigators.

How about the doctor, the oncologist who treated this Hawaiian lady? He is a specialist in the field, and he was baffled by what happened. Are YOU a specialist in oncology?

And the same holds true with the bomb explosion inside the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, in 1921. I gave you details. Did you make ANY effort to reconstruct the situation in your mind and understand the details? Those who investigated the facts, in details, yes they investigated them scientifically, and concluded there was no natural explanation. You on the other hand, didn’t bother to study the details. Therefore, your hasty conclusions are useless. Thanks God detectives and forensic scientists are being taught a different work ethics (and mostly they do have a different work ethics - they pay attention to the details).

Are you for real?

You lot are the ones jumping to the wacky conclusions. I.E. We do know why this happened therefore “GOD DID IT!” lol 😃

Show me one forensic scientist that would go into court and say “i can explain this your honor, there can only be one conclusion GOD DID IT!” hahahhahaha

Show me one scientific paper that says “these results can’t be explained, therefore GOD DID IT!!!”

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Are you in denial? It happens all the time with insurance tort claims wherein “Acts of God” ARE the issue. 😃

Yeah cause that is verifiable .
Most fortunately, it is not verifiable centuries later by the standards of verification you would propose, not that it would change anything even if an event was verifiable by your criteria.

The term refers to natural disasters etc, it is not anything LIKE the same thing. However it seems to me you a claiming your “loving” god is responsible for all the natural disasters in the world? Is this so, are you going all Pat Robertson on us?

Well if would be a very interesting phenomena, however you are quite correct. The answer “god did it” is actually exactly the same as “we don’t know”. I prefer the more intellectually honest of the two.

No, I’m saying why would he?
For the same reason he would cure cancer? Because according to you he was answering someones prayer. Or can you not foresee a circumstance where someone with no legs might pray for them back?

So basically you would buy the whole God concept if you could see that somone grew another limb, right? The point I was making is that you don’t need all of your limbs to begin with. It is not even in the same category as someone with cancer.

Because according to you he was answering someones prayer. QUOTE]

OK. Then it is apparent that the answer is somtimes No.

Your idea of a God is one who would/should give everything that you ask for while here on earth. Acceptence is key for me. Sometimes you just have to accept a current situation. Legs or no legs. It really shouldn’t make a difference either way.

The question i am asking is why with amputees is the answer ALWAYS no? As for “Legs or no legs. It really shouldn’t make a difference either way”. I mean, Honestly!

I know exactly what you’re asking and you’re trying your best to place loosing a limb in the same context as cancer and nothing could be further from the truth. You seem to live under the impression that someone w/out a limb can’t live a fullfilled life. Why not just take it a step further and say “well, if someone were needing to get somewhere fast, then why not just pray to grow wings so that they can get there in a quicker time”. 🤷
